Love this soap! Aroma is wonderful and skin is no longer dry

Absolutely love this soap! I've been using the pine tar soap for some time now and it's great on my skin. No perfume, no alcohol, just all natural ingredients and for someone who has skin problems my whole life this soap has done wonders for me. Price is also a huge difference because it's something I can afford where as most all natural soaps are expensive and this product is within my budget.

Almost perfect. However, the very good lavendar scent kind of overpowers the patchouli scent.

Incredible lather, gentle, scent is amazing!

I bought this because I had a bad PUPPs rash postpartum. I read Pine Tar soap can help relieve the itch, and this soap could arrive faster than Grandpa’s. I did experience some relief, whether it was the soap or placebo effect, I’m not sure, because I have nothing to compare it to. I’d really give the soap 3.5 stars, but that’s not an option. If you want a simple pine tar soap, I’d suggest looking elsewhere- I found Grandpa's soap cheaper. If you want a “former” soap that’s reminiscent of pine tar, this is a good bet. PROS: The smell is there but mild. It has gentle exfoliation and is moisturizing. It looks nice- it could even be given as a gift. PRO&CON: The directions give you a way to “age” the soap, to make it last longer, but you have to wait a week. CONS: It is super soft- granted, I was taking really long showers to relieve my itch, but this only lasted about 5-6 showers. This was a major con, considering the price. It also left a black residue in my tub. Updated to directly compare with Grandpa’s Soap: PINEY-NESS: Grandpa’s has more pine. This one probably has as much or equal charcoal, creating the black color and the more mild scent. SMELL: Grandpa’s smells like a fire pit after you’ve burned pine. This soap smells like a black Yankee Candle. COST: I got a 3 pack of Grandpa’s for $2 more than I paid for 1 bar of this soap. RESIDUE: Grandpa’s leaves regular soap residue, about what I get with a regular bar of soap. This soap leaves a noticeable black residue with each use. DURABILITY/LONGEVITY: Grandpa’s lasts longer, definitely. LOOK: Grandpa’s looks like a light brown bar of soap. This one is definitely prettier and could be left out as a decorative soap. OVERALL: If you want a decorative soap with some pine tar qualities, go with this one. If you want a “true” pine tar soap, keep shopping.

Smell great and nice soapy lather

The quality of the product is great, you can definitely notice the rustic look imperfect look that is reminiscent of a home made bar of soap. This is my first bar of soap from this maker and it was the Patchouli, which is described as an earthy musky aroma reminiscent of wet soil. I personally store my soap in a ziplock back in order to prevent the water from hitting it and causing it to dissolve rapidly. Now the first day I used the bar the smell was very mild, however on the second day of use I quickly notice that the scent was very strong, probably around 6 times as much as the first day (something that people with very sensitive noses should beware of) and oh musky it was! I don’t know how to put it but for a minute I thought my dog (who sleeps on my pile of dirty clothes when I shower) had some flatulence, because the scent caught me off guard. But I quickly noticed that as soon as I put the soap back in the ziplock and rinsed off the soap from my body the super strong smell dissipated. Now if you can bear through the strong smell as you shower then you’ll find that the strong smell doesn’t linger much and you’re left with your skin smelling mildly of soil. I personally think that this aroma was not for me but I don’t want to write a negative review as the soap delivered as promised, and the overall quality was outstanding. I definitely look forward to trying other scents as I was really impressed with this brand.

Pleasant smell without being too strong! Lathers well and skin feels clean and soft after use. Love the quality and clean ingredients!
