Jackpot! Great US-Sized Hooks for a Bargain!
I can't speak to the steel hooks in this set, since I don't use those sizes much and didn't buy the set to get them. But the aluminum hooks in the set I got are fantastic. The hook heads and shafts are smooth; the shafts are long; each hook has both letter and millimeter markings; the colors are pretty, and I got a case to store my tools--all at an awesome low price. It's very difficult to find a good set of aluminum crochet hooks with the smaller standard US sizes from B (2.25mm) to F (3.75mm) on Amazon. So many generic crochet hook sets here give you 2mm, 2.5mm, and 3mm hooks instead of B, C, and D; and those sets skip F entirely. (One set I found skipped the US 7/4.5mm hook for some reason I can't figure.) And when you do find a set with standard US sizes, they often only have millimeter markings and no letters. Not to mention the fact that the hook shaft quality can be hit or miss. I feel like I hit the jackpot here. Needless to say, I am very pleased with my purchase.Quick FYI: The needles are in a little plastic bag which has its own slot, but my stitch markers are in a little cellophane bag that doesn't seem resealable, so it will not be a suitable long-term storage solution. Anyone buying this set will need to know ahead of time where they would want to keep the stitch markers. (Frankly, I wouldn't keep the needles in that baggie and slot either.)

Affordable and Simple
I'm a novice crocheter (experienced knitter), and these simple hooks are exactly what I personally like. I have a few hooks that are fancy looking (wood, decorate shafts, etc), but these are straightforward and get the job done. The zipper case is nice to have, and the span of hook sizes is great. Overall, they feel a bit cheap (especially the case), but they are cheap and get the job done. Overall, I'm very happy with them.

Good set for beginners
This set has a good range of sizes making it perfect for newbies wanting to try a wide variety of projects. None of the hooks had a rough edge in the set I received. The case is bright orange as pictured. It's a bit thin and a little flimsy. It feels like it may rip and the zipper is not the best. I did not buy this product for the case, but it would work fine for anyone just wanting to keep their hooks together. The needles look good. I'm not sure of the quality and my first impression was that the eye would break, but they're good enough to hold you over.

Hate the color, love the value
So I'll be honest, idiot me didn't look at the pictures close enough to realize that the case that was coming was a bright Orange. Can't say it was a happy surprise, but whatever. At least I'll be able to find it.To preface all of this; I'm no crochet pro. I've learned 3 other times in the past, and over time forgot it, and am now getting back on the train of relearning it so I can crochet a granny square baby blanket. I've had some experience with a few different types of crochet hooks however, and I would say from my novice experience, these aren't that bad.To start off with, other people seem to have problems with their cases; mine however came with no tearing, no issues. Sure it's not a super fancy expensive case, but it works well enough and seems to hold things in place. Other than it's brilliantly orange colour, I don't really have too much of an issue with it. The inside little slots to keep hooks is made of some plastic material attached to the case itself. It's in good condition now, but I can see it being something that'll break down eventually, tearing and not holding the hooks properly. That said, by the time you get to that stage you'll have either decided crochet's not for you, or you'll have graduated to a high quality brand. And you'll do what my mom and thousands of other crochet's have done, and have graduated to mason jars overflowing with hooks. The hooks were mostly smooth, again not fancy expensive nice ones, but decent enough. The small hooks seem sturdy enough, and while my 1.0 mm hook seemed to have a sharp edge on the top, that's easy enough to buff down I think. My 0.90mm hook looked like whatever formed it seemed to be a bit too aggressive because it was a little rougher around the head and the inside of the hook, but it also doesn't look like something I can't fix. And even if I can't, I don't particularly care, I've got other hooks that small that can replace it just fine, it's no big loss. I'm not really planning on using those ones anyway. The tapestry needles look nice, and I'm always excited for metal tapestry needles rather than those pink and blue ones you find everywhere. and the little plastic safety clips look like... little plastic safety clips... Nothing out of the ordinary there. I was curious so I opened and closed the pins. You definitely have to put some thumb power behind it; would not recommend the pins for anyone who has difficulty applying pressure or has hand issues at all unless they've got a patient friend nearby.Overall, the set is pretty great for beginners I think, and they're a cheap enough deal that it's worth it even if you do intend to upgrade later. I compared the value by going to Michaels on my great yarn hunt, (which was a whole nother story of it's own...). They had a set of like 5 or so hooks, (The larger ones), and they were 8 dollars and came without the case and the rest of the goodies included here. Maybe they're made of slightly better aluminum, and maybe they are a better quality, but it definitely didn't compare in value, especially to someone new to crochet which is the type of individual who would be going for this kit I think.

Perfect for starting!
I bought this back in early Feb, I was just beginning to learn crochet and only had one hook, please dont let the color of the case push you away from buying this (it almost did me) it is an absolutely perfect starter set, you will be so glad to have the round markers, yarn needles and a great case to carry and keep your hooks organized! I stared learning in December how to crochet and with this kit I've finished a few projects with no issues, one is pictured.

Selection of sizes.
These are great because although I already own a good set of hooks patterns sometimes require sizes which are not included. This has the more unusual sizes to complete my set. Also the large eye needles and stitch markers are always useful.
