The Best Battery Operated Sprinkler Controller
I purchased this Hunter sprinkler controller to replace an older unit that had failed after many years of use. This new replacement controller came with a prewired solenoid as an extra surprise that also replaced the existing solenoid. Installation, consisting of replacing the solenoid, took less than ten minutes. The new controller uses two 9 volt batteries for power in contrast to the old Hunter unit that only used one 9 volt battery. I had to replace the old unit battery about every six to nine months so I am hopeful the new controller will operate for a longer period of time without having to replace the batteries. Programming was identical to the old unit and took me about 15 minutes to program the new Hunter. Maybe it was due to the age of the older unit but the new Hunter controller display was much easier to read and see items displayed. It has operated flawlessly and continuously for two months since it was installed. I will change the programming later in the late fall season and check the battery level at that time. This is a great battery operated sprinkler controller and works very well where you do not have any 110 Volt power source. I find it easier to program than my wired power sprinkler controllers and just as reliable. Do not forget to turn off the water source before removing the old solenoid and controller...........

Works great as HOA deterrent!
We live at a place where we have a HOA breathing down our necks at all times. One day we noticed that our in-ground irrigation system went off on a day that it shouldn't. Our HOA puts pressure in the lines only on certain days and sometimes as they test our sprinkler systems by putting pressure in the lines on a day that there shouldn't normally be pressure. If your sprinkler system goes off on that test day, they'll fine you.Once I popped the old NODE100 out of the ground I noticed that the display had water bubbles in it. If I tried to wake it up, it would respond incredibly slowly. Then, if I tested it, it would completely "crash" and would not respond to any inputs; I had to remove both 9 volts and replace them to get it to boot up again. At this point I knew that the water proof seal of the timer had been purged and it was shorting it out. The circuit board is completely potted and is not accessible without destroying it. I had no choice other than to replace it.I shut off the line by twisting the solenoid shut and ordered this timer as an exact replacement. It took a while to arrive but, it was well worth the wait. I set the timer to run for 30 minutes even through our HOA puts pressure in the lines for an hour. This is so my daughter can make it to the bus in the morning without getting drenched. This sprinkler timer has been working great for a couple months now. Its a little confusing to set up because, you can customize a lot about how it works. However, Hunter has a series of YouTube videos that will help you set up every aspect of this timer to how you want. Expect to have to check the batteries every year and expect the water proof seal to break after a couple years, however.

9 volt battery operation (2)
Installs and Programs easily. Great for a single station application. Runs up to two years off of two 9 volt batteries so no low voltage to wire to it. Works perfectly!

Good Replacement.
Our old controller had been hit by a lawnmower at least once, so when I attempted ti make adjustments it was impossible. I ordered the new one, installed it, and it works great!n

Great, works, buy it
Good price and includes wired solenoid. The installation was super easy and only took a moment. It took longer to program than it did to install. Programming isn't bad, just follow the directions, its about as expected. It can operate on one 9v or 2 9v batteries. I always add 2 batteries, but I change them yearly. 2 batteries will run it much longer, but being as these nodes are below ground level and around $100 each, Id rather change batteries yearly than chance having the batteries corrode and ruin a unit. I replaced 3 of these that lasted 9 years...and only replaced them because of neglected corroded batteries.

I hate this thing
I like that it works well once it's programmed. However, the user interface is the absolute worst I have ever encountered, so getting it programmed each spring is a hit-and-miss, trial-and-error exercise that usually spans several days of tweaks to see if the thing is working as expected.Six buttons control the programming for the horrendously complicated sequence of non-intuitive button-pushing to set zones, times, programs, start times, manual watering, overrides, various kinds of repeats, and a whole host of other great features. However, all these features come at the expense of mind-numbing programming complexity that makes little logical sense and makes the entire unit with something that's more intuitive and user-friendly.As I mentioned, I hate this thing.

Easy to install
Had to install this on a valve not connected to the grid. Was quick and easy. I did have to swap the valve to a hunter one. I could have cut the wires and used the other brands old valve, but wanted to leave them factory sealed. Comes with a mount plate/holder and dust cover.

Perfect
It was a great DIY. The instructions were clear, and I was able to remove the old one and replace it with this new one in 20 minutes.
