Rosetta Stone Homeschool German�Level 1-5 Set including Audio Companion

It's Rosetta Stone so it's good. Some might disagree, but I've learned Greek and Spanish with it so far and I am looking forward to learning German as well. I will say that the more languages you learn with it the harder it gets, because they use the same images, so when you see the image, you might recall in the wrong language. Other than that I love the program (not a fan of the new format though either).I would like to give 5 stars, but these new delicate earbuds that they give you instead of the old skookum headphones REALLY SUCK! So, I would recommend spending an extra $25 and getting a nice pair if you have any trouble with their crappy earbuds.

We really like the program and the grading is set up and stored for you. Unfortunately this is version 3 and the company is already on version 4/5. We had some trouble with the program opening. We had to re-start the computer several times to get it to work. We were told by customer service at Rosetta Stone we will have to download the latest version if this continues to happen. Version 3 isn't as compatible as it could be with newer computers.

I installed this and had internet loading issues with the install. Tried 3 times uninstalling/installing before I called the help line. We checked for some "known" software issues and then I was finally directed to a site to download a new installation program, something named TOTALe(TM). That worked and I was on my way loading the levels. Only loaded Levels 1-3 to my PC to start with. Now I start the first module. First several lessons are pretty simple for language but I got several items wrong when I had to guess what the program was looking for. Instructions were not helpful but I had the option of starting over and did that a few times. The quirky thing is at several points in the lessons an error message pops and you go forward to the next lesson. Whether this is based on prior scores or not I can't tell. There's no error message text which makes for a frustrating time. I would have thought that for as long as this company was in business it wouldn't keep error messages secret. As I progressed I noted that the lessons got more complex so I start each session with a review of the prior one before moving on. They have a basic logic that builds on prior lessons so it is helpful to take them over. I'll have to come back once I get to the higher levels but I am learning words and phrases.

The program is good. My kids like it very much. But there are errors constantly that have to be fixed. And you have to contact online support to get a solution.

CANNOT INSTALL even the first lesson. Says it cannot detect the CD. Bought in July. Had to take my laptop to shop to have it reset to factory settings. Just got out of shop. Tried again today. SAME problem. Cannot install. NOT AMUSED. Going to contact seller for return. This is insane!

Great course, though I wish that there were a "questions" option… Or a teacher that you could communicate and ask questions to during the course. Also, my microphone didn't work. So the speech option is not available...
