I've had my Garmin Forerunner 245 Music for almost 5 years now, and it's still going strong! I had to replace the watchband, since it gave way after about 3 years of use, but other than that the watch has been really great. The battery has held quite well after all these years. I use just the running and walking modes, but there's a bunch of other ones that an athlete could use. Overall, a solid buy!

I have used a Garmin Forerunner for a long time, but had not upgraded for close to 10 years. I needed a watch for running and fitness that also allowed me to store music and podcasts without needing to carry my phone. This watch meets those needs and works very well. The screen bright and easy to read. The GPS picks up in about 60-90 seconds and is accurate for my runs or hikes. It has a feature that lets you press a button at a certain point for a lap time, then for the rest of the run it will tell you (audibly) how you did on that lap so you can compare it to prior laps. I think it is made for running on a track, but it works well on long runs on streets or trails. The bluetooth work well with my Jabra Elite ear buds. Music and podcasts are easy to manage and transfer on my Mac from the Apple Podcast and Apple Music apps. Battery is a week if I only use GPS and Bluetooth during my workouts. If I use it more than that, I get 3-4 days on a charge. This is a quality watch that offers most of what a smartwatch does (notifications, answer incoming calls, etc) but really shines for fitness. Synching with the Garmin Express apps is easy and provides all the information you could want to track you health and fitness.

I have had this Garmin for almost a year now, and have extensively used it, so I feel like I can give an accurate review now. •Pro’s• -price point -has all/most the features as the more expensive Garmins(sleep tracking, activity tracking, flashlight, long battery life, etc) -durable enough for military field usage(the cracked screen is just a screen protector, not the watch itself) -easy to use(takes a few days of getting used to if you’ve never used a Garmin before) -aesthetically pleasing •Con’s• -can’t use it to text or talk on the phone(whatever honestly) -the flashlight is just a white screen, not an integrated LED light like the more expensive models(still bright enough that I use it frequently with no complaints) -not solar powered like the more expensive models(whatever, because long battery life, but it’s very easy to make a watch solar powered now, so I think every model should have this standardized) -the pace count seems to be a little inaccurate. It will say I’ve reached 10k steps when I know for sure there’s no way I’ve taken 10k steps(though it seems to be pretty accurate when measuring distance when running, walking, and swimming) Overall, very satisfied with my purchase, and when I consider upgrading, I fall back on the question of “well what would upgrading actually do for me? This watch does pretty much everything the upgraded model can do.”

Pros: Very durable - I wore this watch during a Super Spartan Race and it did just fine through the running, climbing/crawling obstacles and occasional wet dunk obstacle. Small enough (not too bulky) to fit under my compression long sleeve shirt comfortably Very accurate with heart rates Very accurate with pacing Very accurate with pulse ox (when on) Very accurate with mileage Has a LONG battery life even when using it heavily (compared to my old fitbit I used to use) Can do music through the headphone bluetooth function Can text people back with simple premade messages Dont have to bring phone while running to het all the same functions Durable screen hasn't had a scratch on it in the 3 months I've had it Does decent job of counting steps if you cant wear the watch on your wrist for some reason (I'm a LMT and cant always wear my watch. But it still picks up steps if it's around your ankle, in a pocket or strapped around a belt or belt loop) Can add widgets (apps) that can help you track things you find useful Can add music providers so listen to your stations or playlists Alarm portion works as expected Cons: It took awhile for the sleep function to work properly for me - now that it is working it doesnt always constantly track it for me. Very tedious trying to set it up - I recommend finding a youtube person who has reviewed these watches and following along with them to make sure you change your preferences to fit you. I tried doing it by myself at first and I did some of it... but they have a very comprehensive reviews that dont miss anything. Overall, this is an excellent watch if you give it the time when you first get it to change its settings to help you the most. Keep in mind that if one of the functions doesnt seem to work for you or you dont like it the way it is, it more than likely can change to fit your needs better. (I didnt like the HR monitor when I was running and doing workouts AT ALL but as soon as i changed my settings to follow my pacing during workouts did i actually see function in this watch that my other watches didnt have)

I bought one of these watches for the GPS and tracking aspects of the watch for when I go walking or biking. I love the features of this watch. I do not use it for messages or anything like that. Those just become a distraction if you are trying to get any exercise done. But the watch isn't real big, it's just the right size, smaller than any G-Shock It functions well for how I use it. Battery life is good, however if you use the GPS tracker in it that feature does shorten the battery life some. The screen is just fine for a watch. I did not like the dinky band that comes on it. Its small in my opinion for a watch that men will wear. I switched mine out for a "HEMSUT" watch band. I switch all my other watch bands out, so that wasn't a big deal. But if you want a good watch, this is the one. Garmin is a very reputable brand. Nice alternative to apple or fitbit, etc. I would most certainly buy another. Oh and the little app store thing they got is good enough. This watch does have the music feature but I have not tried it yet. I live in south Florida and because no one here knows how to frigging drive without trying to kill a biker or pedestrian, I just figured I'm safer being more aware of the environment around me.

I've had this watch for about three months now. For context, I'm a 26 year old male who's ran one half-marathon and this is my first smartwatch. I really like that I can use my Airpods while running and play downloaded music from Spotify rather easily. I think it could be a nice feature to be able to see/choose individual songs within a playlist rather than having to skip through an entire playlist. I love the battery life! It lasts forever and I rarely think about charging it. It tracks my runs pretty well and syncs with Nike + which is a nice feature. As an iOS user, the UI was underwhelming and feels a bit boring but I'm okay with boring because I didn't want a fancy watch so I got what I expected. The display seems a bit cheap which was hard to swallow as it's more expensive than some Apple watches but again, I sucked it up because I didn't buy the watch to view movies or scroll through pictures, I bought it to run with while listening to music and it does that well. Apart from running, I use this skateboarding or biking to listen to music without my phone and I like that it has use outside of just running. One thing I dislike is that if you're using the stopwatch you can't leave that screen while the stopwatch is running. You must stay on the stopwatch screen. I think this should be changed. I love the alarm feature that wakes me up quietly through vibration and I've been pleased with the build quality of this watch. It hasn't scratched or chipped in any way over the past three months. One of the buttons got stuck once but has fixed itself after use. Lastly, I love that the watch recommends running workouts but I've felt like the pace it's suggests feels very different from the pace I prefer and have ran in the past. If I try to run the pace that feels comfortable to me it beeps at me annoyingly and lets me know I'm running too fast. I have pace/speed alert set to "off" so I'm not sure why it's doing this. I would love to be able to edit my recommended pace or have a more accurate suggested pace. All in all, I've gotten what I was hoping for out of this watch: a watch that tracks my runs and allows me to listen to downloaded audio content. It's been reliable and I'm glad to have it.

After doing extensive research prior to purchasing my first fitness watch, I finally pulled the trigger on this one and I haven't looked back. Other watches I seriously looked at include the Apple Watch and Forerunner 945. Due to the MUCH better battery life, exercise data points, and GPS capability of this watch, my buddy who has an Apple Watch is now looking at getting one of these after he saw mine. Similarly, I am very glad I did not purchase the apple watch. Compared to the FR945, the FR245 seemed only to lack gimmicky features that I did not find important. The FR945 has the barometric altimeter, but you can still see elevation on this watch based on the GPS fix it receives (just slightly less accurate). The conclusion I came to is that this watch is a LOT of watch for the money, and you don't really get a whole lot more with the FR945 (not enough to be worth almost twice the price at least). If you think you really might need two weeks' worth of battery instead of one or want a lot more songs downloaded, it might be worth it to you. I've thoroughly enjoyed using the watch for runs, bikes, and swims; it has definitely helped me exercise smarter through the given data points. I've also found that seeing these metrics allows you to set more quantifiable goals that are fun to work towards. I also use the watch for things I hadn't intended to at the time of purchase; the Garmin Connect IQ store allows you to download some pretty useful apps like weather radar, flight radar (for the aviation junkies), and even a beer tracking app that estimates when you should be back to 0.0 BAC based on your height and weight (BeerCounter). Overall, I would highly recommend this watch to anyone who wants to be able to leave their phone at home on the next run, see more data about their workouts and have a kick-butt tool to track your progress without spending an obscene amount of money. NOTE: Following the first run with the watch I was dismayed to see that it was saying my heart rate was low when it should have been high (during HIIT) and vice versa. This problem was quickly fixed by wearing the watch higher than I usually wear watches (well above the wrist bone, as recommended. Duh!).

I love this watch! Pricey, but, hey. It is _not_ friendly for non-Spotify-etc. mp3s and playlists, especially with Linux - its connectivity is only MTP, not MSM, and it doesn't always scan files and playlists properly loaded that way. But it is great to have the music in the watch, the GPS and heart-sensor work flawlessly and I like seeing the REM sleep tracking. Now... CAVEAT: Amazon lists one product... but there are 2 versions. The "Asia-Pacific" version and the "Rest-Of-World" version. Why do you can, you might ask? They use different firmware files. I tried to load a beta firmware update, and it wasn't recognized. I tracked it down to the watch being the APAC version, not the one meant for the USA. Yes, they both have English as an option... but I'm sending this back, and since *Amazon lists them as identical*, there is no way to tell if their seller is going to send you a US one or an APAC one. I've let Amazon know about this issue... and it may not matter to you... But for now, I'm returning the Asia-Pacific one (which Amazon treats as the same product) and I'll get one from Walmart or REI or someone else local, even if it is thirty or forty more bucks... Please Amazon, don't list this as the same product; there are differences (even BEYOND the obvious fact that the watch I received has languages like Vietnamese and Thai instead of German and French...) Update, I still love the watch, and, the battery life is _not_ as good as the 35 or 230 that I've used before... ijs...

This review is based on a month of heavy use. Battery life : 8days minimal use and about 3 days if you run daily. it is great charging it takes an hour I think or less it's no big deal, overall battery life is amazing Connectivity : had no real problems connecting to my phone, although I couldn't connect it to my headphones once but the issue resolved after restarting it and my headphones, never had the issue again. Size : It's small enough to forget it on my wrist for days, and big enough to be able to read everything easily Water Resistance : I've been wearing it while showering never had a problem with it Quality : Now this thing ROCKS... Literally it's always on my wrist, it always hits the door or the wall but literally it did scratch my wall but the watch stayed the same. Couldn't ask for more! Data : Reading the data off my watch is really nice right after a run. Reading the data off my iPhone is something else... The graphs and everything is just amazing. Accuracy : Gps accuracy is just as my iPhone which is as good as it can be. Other stats like heart Rate and Vo2 max looks good enough. I haven't really compared them with anything else so can't really comment on that. Fall Detection : I really don't know, I fell twice off my bike in the last month, It detected one fall the other one was more rough but yeah, if you really think about it isn't that useful, no matter how hard the fall was I would cancel the Assistance and call 911 if it was that bad... Otherwise I just take a break and continue my trip. Sleep detection is okay : as soon as I get on my bed it starts counting and it keeps counting after I wake up until I get off my bed. So that's bad but it's okay because most of the time I don't get on my bed unless I wanna sleep syncing music from spotify is easy. Downloading music from your PC using the usb cable is easy too. Could it be better? Yeah. Do I need better? Hell no. Overall I love it.

Love this watch! I use it to monitor my steps, walking, pulse oxygen, heart rate, and sleep (has details on REM, deep sleep and more). Also lets me know about cell phone calls or texts when my phone is in my purse or in another part of the house. (It has many, many more features.) I’m not an athlete but this watch has helped me a lot with personal fitness accountability and motivation. It’s the perfect size…not too big/not too small.

First time owning a smart watch, met my expectations and then some. So good for running with music and much better than expected for day to day use. Comfortable, light and functional for not super expensive. Impressed
