I love stevia. It is a natural herbal sweetener that not only does not raise your glycemic level but tastes okay and is packaged in a convenient squeeze bottle. I used to buy the powdered variety of stevia, which is quite concentrated, and it is slightly less convenient; you need to scoop a tiny amount into your coffee and stir vigorously. The liquid is much more convenient; one quick squirt sweetens a 16 ounce mug of coffee. Just stir it once or twice and done. There is evidence that stevia counteracts bacteria that cause gingivitis in your mouth. Stevia in a test tube also inhibits the bacteria that causes Lyme disease but there's no clinical evidence it counteracts the disease in humans. Just an interesting bit of trivia to think about. I've traveled all over the world with these stevia bottles. In Japan, artificial sweeteners are usually not offered in restaurants and cafés, only sugar in stick packets or liquid pouches of sugar syrup. When I spent two months there last year, I brought my liquid stevia and it was very convenient. Highly recommended!
