POCKET AMP ACOUSTIC Portable Preamp for Acoustic String Instruments

This little pedal is the core of my signal path these days. I play a lot of live acoustic guitar and upright bass in various settings and managing tone and feedback can be a real challenge. I have had this pocket amp for about 6 months and use it several times a week. The EQ is flexible enough that I can dial in good tone with each guitar I plug into it. The notch filter helps a lot in poor stage situations, but is completely out of the circuit when not needed. This thing has a built in DI box, an effects loop, selectable mute or bypass, invert switch, low cut switch, and works with Piezo or magnetic pickups. I have used it with Barcus Berry hot dots, a Fishman under saddle pickup, a Seymour Duncan Woody, and a K&K bass pickup and they can all be dialed in well. The 9v battery will last about 25 hours of intermittent use for me, ans it accepts a standard pedal AC adapter if you need one. This pedal fits nicely in a guitar case but has enough weight that it stays nicely where you put it. The stomp switch is nice and reliable, and the body is metal. Great little box.

I just ordered this pedal with the Donner passive acoustic pick up system and was blowing away at the end result based on how affordable everything was. This pedal really does not disappoint and has all the features you could wish for in a preamp and DI box. The versatility is insane and I don’t think I could get a bad sound out of it. Integrates well with my pedal board, but make sure you pick up a TRS L/R splitter cable if you want to patch in an effects loop. Don’t just plop it down as another pedal expecting it to work the same.

The form factor is nice and small and all the controls are easy to use. I just didn't think it sounded quite as good as my other acoustic preamps. In particular I didn't think the mid range provided a sufficient cut to clean up my guitar sound.

See my video review. I play both jazz guitar and electric bass guitar. I currently use this for my bass. I bought this because I don't use any distortion on my bass, and I noticed that this has an acoustic bass setting. The palmer bass model has stuff that I don't need, so I chose their acoustic model. And this works just fine for my bass. This has lots of gain, so I can play gigs with only this and a small power amp (I'm using the tiny Fosi MO-3 from Amazon) which I'll review later. This features a parametric mid eq, plus a sweepable notch filter, both very useful. The build quality feels great, and battery life seems very good as long as you don't leave your instrument plugged in to the input (which turns the unit on). This has a great DI XLR out with pre/post and ground lift. It feels like a little brick. I love it!

bin begeistert von dem Vorverstärker. Er funktioniert sowohl bei Akkustik (Piezo Tonabnehmer) als auch E-Gitarren. Rauschen ist nicht hörbar, sowohl bei Batteriebetrieb als auch mit Netzteil, aber nur mit guten Netzteilen! Der Sound ist klar und deutlich.

Great piece of gear provided you don't plan on using the xlr out. I'm sure that I just got a bum unit but still frustrating nonetheless... returning for full refund.

Pedale discreto ma niente di che. Minimo sindacale. Suono non eccelso.
