Worked after one use
I have an orange cat and a black cat. The black cat didn't seem to care for it, but my orange cat loved it. She has been working on a hairball for 3-4 days now and it just won't come up. I used this last night, for the first time, and just put some in their cat bowls on the side of their wet food. I got up this morning and there was a big long orange hairball on my rug. Not how I wanted to start my morning, but it's awesome that the product worked this quickly!

Really good hairball relief gel
This is the only hairball relief gel that my cats will let me use. It is easy to apply and one cat actually just licks it off my finger, which is a huge plus. Pricing and availability are great and so glad that I found it on Amazon. Will definitely continue to buy.

How do I get this into the cat?
OK - I've had long haired cats and used hairball stuff like this for years and they all worked. The last long-haired cat lasted 19 years with nary a hairball. After I agreed to cat sit and the creature was delivered to my home, I was informed that 'She's a puker.' Hmmmmm. Yup! SO - Spent some time online looking around and gotta admit that I didn't know that short haired cats got hairballs so I bought this stuff in hopes that I'd prevent stepping in the joyous goo generally deposited on the rug with the thickest pile. AND, before I could get this stuff INTO the cat - yup, you guessed it. Several early morning cold, slimy surprises. SO - here's my question: HOW do I get this stuff into the cat? My old long hairs always licked this kind of stuff up eagerly after I put a dab onto a paw. I suspect this cat has never been treated for hairball prevention because when I put some of this goo onto her paw she went berserk. Hopped around flapping her foot and the goo went flying everywhere. Ever tried to get it out of a rug? OR off A WINDOW or Computer screen? A little of this stuff goes a Loooong way and it is very, very oily. Thank god I didn't get the Salmon flavor!!!!! I understand how it works and that the mineral oil is what makes it work ... but HOW do I GET IT INTO the CAT if >> I can ever catch her again? I cannot give a complete review at this time because A: I have no clue what the flavor is like altho I can attest to its color and smell > a pleasing Rich Malt. As for value for Money - again - no clue yet... and ease of use? Perhaps there should be another category for Ease of cleaning up after its all over the place :) The info on the box and tube say to store in 59-86F. My place is a nice comfy 68 so it wasn't runny or anything. I can only imagine what that would be like... teeny malty droplets in my hair and on walls and in more spots on the rug or wood floor. This is by no means a criticism of the product which is why I gave it a 4 out of 5 to be fair --- but rather , it's a plea for any cat owners to explain how to get this into the cat. Maybe baste the cats food with it? Will re-visit this review and follow-up if I can get it into the creature and if she does not gaak up another fur-ball.

Good product to help with furballs
This is the best product for cats who get furballs. It helps the cat pass the fur through the system. It has a malt flavor that my cat really enjoys. If you provide a half inch, as suggested, when he licks it, he'll flick the mass with his tongue and it will end up on the floor or sofa so I'll rub it on his paw and he can lick it off.

Works but is like tar.
Works but is the consistency of tar. The consistency makes it almost impossible to give to stubborn cats. Hard to lick, hard to swallow, easy to spit out and sticks to EVERYTHING. Don’t give this over carpet.

My cat likes the malt flavor.
I'm still not sure why my cat was vomiting up his food, because cats do that, but I can say that he likes the flavor of this "malt" gel and licks it right off my finger or a plate like it's a treat. Even though I have a 12-pound cat, I just give a large pea size blob once a day for maintenance. (Not the 1.5" strip that's for his weight, a couple times a week, which is what's on the package.) I would buy again.

Grrrrreat product
I did rescue work & had many cats, for yrs. They all liked the malt flavor since that's all I bought. Some of the went crazy for it, climbing my hand/arm to get it, I couldn't squeeze it out fast enough 4 them. It was like kitty crack. I've has many cats w/long hair & some who were obsessive cleaners & groomed all day. This product really works very well. Here's an example, wasn't a furball, but worse. My cat was choking on something,, it was obvious she was trying 2 get it something out of her throat. She kept hacking & reaching. I took this tube & put lots in her mouth on my finger, large amts & put my finger in her mouth & scrapped it off her front top teeth. I did this several times, b/c I knew it was a lubricant & would help her either get it out or passed down the other way. Luckily she managed to bring it up. I almost flipped, it was a very thick rubber band, she was choking on. Thankful 4 this product lubricating her throat enough to reach it forward & out from her mouth. That scared me. Iove this product, b/c it really works. U must B consistent & give it regularly to correct a problem. If Ur cat is only occasionally bothered by fur balls, then maybe twice a month. If kitty is somewhat annoyed by furballs, once a week, providing these R short-haired cats. If kitty has a moderate problem, twice a week & if there is more of a problem, then once a day. I know consistency is what matters, if there's a problem, everyday use solves it. If really bad problem twice a day & seek a vets advice. I do it daily w/this kitty & she's fine. I put it on my finger & she licks it off. I find if I put a really sml amt on she licks it right off, but if I put more of a lrg blob on, she won't, so I put a sml amt on twice at a single dosing & that works, she licks it off twice. She's weird, she won't do it a 3rd time. As long as she gets licks it off twice a day, I'm happy, b/c I know she happy & feeling well. I wouldn't bother putting it on hee paw, if kitty doesn't lick a sml amt off Ur finger, then mix it in w/canned food or a puree` treat. These lickables treats in squeeze packets R good, squeeze 1 or 2 in a bowl & put the malt in & mix it up. That

Can be remedy for diarrhea and inappetence
If you have cat(s) then this product is a must have. My cats refuse other brands of hairball remedy but they enjoy Sentry Petromalt. It effectively clears their intestinal tract of hairball and bits and pieces of dust and whatnot. This is not just to keep them from throwing up hairballs but it can be an effective remedy for your cat's diarrhea and inappetence. I know this to be true: There was a period when I had forgotten to give them this hairball remedy. During this time one of my cats began to refuse food or ate only small portions of his meal. After days of this I realized I had forgotten to give him petromalt. After giving this to him 2-3x a day for a couple of days, his appetite returned and he ate everything in his bowl. This happened a second time when I forgot to give my cats petromalt for a long period of time (like a few months). My other cat began to have diarrhea, sometimes with blood in it, and he refused a couple of meals. Again it dawned on me I had forgotten to give my cats petromalt. Just like last time, after giving him petromalt 3x a day for a couple of days, his diarrhea cleared up and his appetite returned. (Please note in a normal situation, you would give your cat about 1-2 inches of hairball remedy twice a week.) Clearly in both cases there was a blockage in my cat's intestinal tract that caused the inappetence and diarrhea (which can also cause vomiting) and the petromalt helped to clear it up. I highly recommend you try this product as a hairball remedy and a possible remedy for symptoms I described here. Of course if it doesn't clear up please take your cat to the vet in case of an emergency.
