Monitor is absolutely beautiful and thank God I finally got a monitor w/o dead pixels!
Monitor is absolutely beautiful and thank God I finally got a monitor w/o dead pixels! The OSD has tons of features way beyond basic brightness/contrast to configure the display. A nice balance of pre-defined settings exist if you just want to turn it on and go. But if you really want to dial in the colors for your needs, the amount of customizing is a blessing. The HDMI port is 2.0 which means you can use it to get native resolution at 60Hz and are not bound to the DisplayPort interface. Amazingly, when doing a monitor test in search for dead pixels, the color shift across the screen is not visible to the human eye (if there even is one). This means solid colors are consistent across every pixel, not something I was expecting at the price point. Cons: The monitor lost connection with the computer a couple times (it thinks the cable was disconnected). I'm hoping that was just some kind of freak occurrence and not a sign of a monitor that might fail on me. Keeping a close eye on that. The stand does not have horizontal rotate or height adjustments which are convenient to have.

BE AWARE specially buying from other country
Acer 27" wide screen 4k!!, excellent design what can go wrong???? ---> EVERYTHING!!!! i want to put 0 stars to this product, but 1 is too much and is the minimum this screen worked perfect for 2 FULL hours!! then i noticed some pixels burned. after one hour more, the screen started blinking on and off, and then never on again. i am living in another country, si i paid the ~400 USD price + 89.6USD shipping and handling + 107USD fees and taxes. and amazon only will return to me the base price + 20usd refund. HOW YOU DARE amazon and acer to ship a defect product to another country and and take all the costs of fees , taxes and shipments to the customer, now i have to send this back and don't know how much it will cost me again. so i saved 2 months money to buy a nice screen and now i have left nothing with a lot of unnecessary expenses. they suggest to send me a replacement... and pay shipment again. NO THANX!!!

Excellent 4K IPS Monitor - Nice Looking Display
Previously had a TN 4K monitor. Was waiting on a 4K IPS monitor. The Acer S277HK fit the bill. As expected, color reproduction is much better than the TN display and of course viewing angles are superior. Nice looking with all metal stand. Easy angle adjustment, but no height adjustment. I knew that going in. Excellent Picture. Another advantage is HDMI 2.0. I plan on using the HDMI 2.0 port when the 390x becomes available. Response time is 4ms when set to extreme mode, which is excellent for an IPS monitor. No pixel issues at all. Perfect Pixel Display for me. :)

Excellent IPS UHD monitor
Here are my thoughts on the Acer S277HK Design Fantastic minimalistic design. Remind me of the zero edge TV's that are out now. It really is an attractive monitor, one of the best I have tried. Picture quality The UHD picture quality is stunning. The IPS screen is so much better than the TN panel UHD screens that are out there. There isn't any worry of color shifting with this panel. Font size and crispness The font crispness is excellent. I find scaling at 150% to be comparable to the font size of a 27" 1440p monitor, but way more crisp. You can get away with 125% on this monitor with a few font adjustments with icons, but I prefer 150%. Tip for Windows 8.1: For programs that look fuzzy or don't scale well: select Properties, then Compatibility, then check "Diable Display Scaling on High DPI Settings". This will make those programs look much better, without the super tiny fonts. I don't think there is much difference between 27" and 28" screens with font size and crispness. Uniformity and IPS glow Here is where the monitor falls short. There are two areas of backlight bleed in both lower corners of the monitor, noticeable on dark scenes. I tried an exchange and I got one that was worse. I may have to overlook this, but at the price I would expect better. There is minimal IPS glow. The backlight bleed is the worst of it. Gaming I don't do any heavy gaming, just SWTOR and WOW, so I can't comment on FPS, but I rather enjoyed gaming at 4K. It's hard to give a true review here because I am only running one video card, so while I don't mind the drop in frame rates, many will. I've ranged anywhere from 80-100fps in world exploration in SWTOR to 30-40fps in high action PVP. WOW is much better. There is some screen tearing, and V-sync obviously reduces that, but stuttering of course will be an issue at this refresh rate and high resolution/one graphics card combo. The next generation of graphics card will certainly provide better frame rates. One tip for SWTOR fans - Make your UI larger by opening the interface editor, clicking on a blank area on the screen (not on a ui object), then adjusting the global scaling to its highest level. It scales great. Inputs It makes a good amount of sense to get a 4k monitor with HDMI 2.0, and this one of the only monitors I've seen so far that has it. Of course, as more of the newer monitors come out you will probably see more of them with it as well. No USB ports is not an issue for me. It has the other standard ports as listed. Speakers Haven't used them as of yet. They are supposed to be better than the tinny Acer speakers that was supplied with the previous generation of Acer 4k monitors, but until my other system gives out I won't be using them. Conclusion For those looking to take the plunge and be an early adopter of the new 4k monitors, then here it is. You really can't go wrong with the design, as the frameless monitor makes other monitors look clunky and old-school. Serious gamers will probably wait for a monitor with a higher refresh rate, but the rest of us will most likely be happy with this offering, especially with the 3 year warranty from Acer. I'd wait for it to go on a deal then snag it.

Began to fail 3 months after warranty expired
The monitor itself is a beautiful monitor, stylish, modern looking, and has decent inputs. Not HDR capable, but that would have been much more expensive when this monitor was purchased. Worked very well for 3 years, and then one day, it started to display flickering horizontal black lines, and the brightness would decrease. Would randomly do this, and then return to normal. Conveniently, this all started about 3 months after the warranty expired. I have a case in with Acer, and hope they will offer a repair at a decent price. I will update the review if they do.

sleek design + excellent image
First of all let me say this product looks neat. the steel bar is great. even if height cant be adjusted is well positioned, so no need for extra adjustment. Image is crystal clear. im using it with a macbook pro retina 13 and after some back and forth adjustments with switchrex I was able to obtain full 4k resolution and is amazing! Sound is Ok, but that is to be expected, if you want excellent sound quality you can connect external audio. Connections: hdmi and minidisplay port are the ones you need. It comes with all the cables (not the miniport if you're using mac you'll need to buy) Greatly recommended if you're looking for a sleek monitor with great 4k quality

Horrible product, After buying realized that the On screen display buttons are poorly designed. Moreover, the unit stopped giving any signal after mere 5 months of use. The customer service is beyond terrible, they do not pick up or even give shipping labels and I will really not recommend it to any one. Its 850$ down the drain on this stupidly designed product.

4k as it says, and looks good. Mine however now constantly makes an electrical hissing noise on the back side. Not sure if its broken. Power button very flimsy too. Lack of Vesa mount very disappointing.

Its stuck in PIP mode. Even if I change the settings it just reverts back to PIP and I'm stuck with a black box somewhere on my screen or its so zoomed in I can't see my task back. So annoyed wish I could return it.
