I have had this same Trudeau Butter Boat for 6 or 7 years - totally happy! It kept the butter in spreadable form without any deterioration in quality. Until my “ butter fingers” dropped the lid…..My initial search for a replacement did not find the Trudeau boat so I ordered a similar one from a different manufacturer, this one which even had a looped handle instead of the button style. But the parts fit poorly and slid around, especially the lid. So I returned it and searched harder for the Trudeau.A bit more expensive but worth every penny! I look forward to many delicious years using my Trudeau Butter Boat!

A friend had one and I wanted one bc we use butter, not margarine and like it soft and spreadable. It works amazingly well. The butter is fresh, soft and spreadable. It's easy to use, add cold water to the fill line, insert the top portion, add your stick of butter and put lid on top. You won't regret your purchase.

I have used the butter bells and I have an adorable one but I find that it gets moldy if I don't use the butter fast enough.This dish is convenient, the water is in the lower level, butter dish goes on top of that. I find that it keeps the butter fresher, is convenient to use and cleans up easily.It is easier to place a stick of butter in the dish rather than having to press the butter in my butter bell.Very pleased with this purchase.

The Trudeau Butter Boat is a nice piece of table ware. Everything fits together nicely and there are no visible flaws.The only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars is because, compared to a butter bell, the butter isn't as cold. It is definitely firmer than leaving it at room temp, but with a butter bell the butter is more like you took it out of the refrigerator a little while ago and is somewhat firm and cool. On the plus side, its easier to just drop in a stick of butter than to wait for it to warm up a bit so you can scoop it into a butter bell. I broke my butter bell so thought I give this a try. If/when this breaks, I'm back to the butter bell.

I have had a butter boat for over 30 years and everyone that comes to my house loves it. I've purchased a butter boat for each of my kids and a few friends. It works perfectly, even in Florida during the heat. Never have to refrigerate the butter boat and the butter is always soft and fresh.I read some reviews that complained about the water sloshing out of the boat when moving it. There is a water line and if you don't overfill the water, it should never slosh out. We move ours around the kitchen all the time and have never sloshed out water. I will continue to buy these as gifts. My only complaint is that the lid on some of the ones I've purchase for gifts don't fit as well as they should.

This butter boat is the best. All of the others that "LOOK"" like this do not measure up. This is a Trudeau and it has a fitted lid and there is a water line on the bottom boat. I had to go through several look-alikes but they always came up short. Mostly, the lids did not fit and therefore they were not protecting the butter.

The first one I ordered was very loosely packaged and one of the three pieces was broken. Amazon quickly replaced it. The second package was even more poorly packed with all the pieces loose in a large box. It’s a miracle none of them were broken. Ironically, the inner box they were packed in said it was “easy-to-open packing” as the original box was damaged in shipping. I had to laugh at that. The pieces need to be secured and padded within the box.The dish itself feels cheap. The glaze around the top edges isn’t neatly applied and leaves a slightly irregular raw lip. The water-fill line is simply a Sharpie mark under the glaze. This was especially noticeable after looking at both dishes.I do like the size, shape, and simplicity with the design. So it will do.

I have always used small, round ramekins for butter, but then I saw this dish on Amazon and decided to check it out. I LOVE it. The rectangular shape works perfectly for long and short sticks of butter, and being able to add ice or cold water to the base is an added bonus, especially if you live in a warm weather area like I do. I hate hard butter, and with this dish I am able to leave my butter out on the countertop AND keep it cool at the same time. A perfect find.

Bought is as a gift, it works really well, keeps butter fresh and spreadable, fits the butter stick perfectly! Bought one for us as well.

It's alright. Bought this as a gift. Apparently the first batch were better/different. I can believe it.Shame it doesn't fit a full block of standard UK butter - you will have to slice it in half every time.But it definitely works. The butter is always spreadable. However, the water does seem to evaporate fairly quickly and it is a bit of a faff having to constantly refill it. Sadly, I just can't find a decently priced alternative so have to recommend this despite it's mild flaws.Also very well packaged, arrived safely and with no damage. Could just do with being bigger, maybe more square? and possibly allow more room for water at the sides so it doesn't drain so rapidly??

Thank you for a well made, useful product! It gets very hot where I live and when I was a child everyone had butter boats but I haven't seen these around for donkeys' years. It's nice to be able to have real butter again, I grew up near a dairy so straight butter was always my favourite sandwich spread. I bought 2, one seems to have a slight chip in a non-critical location but they were very well packed and made it safely to Australia. They are perfectly presentable for any table, without being fragile.

This works so much better than a butter bell. Butter stays fresh and it looks beautiful on my counter!
