Can these heating elements used for heating water by submerging them in a water tank?

It is not water proof at the connection point

Will this get red hot? Is there a recommended power source?

It would be pretty hard to get red hot. Maybe a few wrapped it and insulation and waited an hour and then took it out it would be red temporarily. I used it to boil water plugged into a cigarette lighter in a car and it was pretty slow relative to heaters that are designed to do that. I think the resistance is a little higher than what it stated.

Can I use this to heat a container of olive oil if i keep the connection point out of the container?

Yes, you can but you have to put the resistance in an AISI (stainless steel) tube. The closure on the bottom with a blind nut and the upper part sealed with HT silicone resin. It will be better to insert the wire in a sheath to avoid direct contact with the Olive Oil (edible I suppose)

I’m sure they could be but you’d have to get a pipe that is a little bit over the diameter of these and have it extend out of the water and have these heat the pipe to heat the water I would not recommend submerging these directly into water… honestly an immersion heater would be your best option
