Highly Recommended, BUT....
"Proden Plaqueoff Animal," (by the way, there is also a Plaqueoff product for people), is used to control bad breath and to eliminate tartar and plaque in dogs and cats. It consists entirely of dried granulated seaweed - and it appears to work by changing the chemical make-up of your pet's saliva. As far as I know, nobody's critter has ever had an alergic reaction to the stuff, but if your pet is sensitive to iodine, Plaqueoff may not be a good idea. The Three Muske-Terriers, a male Westie, a male Cesky and the Empress-of-All-She-Surveys, a female Scotty have been "on" Plaqueoff for more than two years, (well, the Cesky since his adult teeth came in, so about a year). A daily dose is very small, so even a 60 gram cannister will last for several months. None of our dogs object to the taste, including the Westie, who is particularly finicky when it comes to food - we usually put it in a little "ball" of food, rather than sprinkling it over everything - the ball is always the first thing they eat. I think Plaqueoff is an excellent product and it is an important part of our terriers' "oral hygiene progam," BUT I don't think that it should be the whole program. If your pet will tolerate having his/her teeth brushed, I think you should do so - especially if their diet includes "processed" foods or table scraps. And whether or not you brush 'em, your pet's teeth should be examined by your vet or a qualified technician at least once a year. A set of pearly whites looks great - but it's not always indicative of oral health - it pays to have somebody who knows what they're doing check out your pet's mouth once in awhile, (this knowledge cost me 3 grand to learn - I give it to you for free). A final note on price: For your first time purchase, the small 60 gram container makes sense - that's more than enough to "test" the effectiveness of the product for yourself. But once you're convinced that it works, you should check out the 420 gram cannister. If properly stored, Plaqueoff will not spoil, and the larger container is often MUCH CHEAPER per gram.

10/10 recommend!
Haven’t tried this yet, but I’ve heard such good reviews on how it helps with dogs, breath, and removes tartar

Definitely Improved My Cat's Teeth
Despite my two cats being littermates, they have their differences. One has excellent teeth and needed only a light cleaning. The other had plaque covering her teeth, so much so, the vet was able to remove large chunks while inspecting them. I was told she would need $1200 in dental work in the next 6-12 months and she'd need to be put under anesthesia. The cost was not as much an issue as putting a 13lb cat under general anesthesia. I found Proden and tried it. I also *tried* to brush her teeth, but she would not have it. I rolled her in a towel, tried to train her with rewards for brushing, but nothing worked. I added it to their wet food every morning and they don't mind it one bit. The initial results were not fast for me, but there was improvement. I finished a small bottle and saw enough positive results that I thought to try one more. It was in the beginning of the second bottle that I saw undeniable improvement. The front teeth seem whiter, but it was the back teeth that I was concerned with. They didn't have the plaque as before and the tooth color was visibly changing, where the bottom was white and working up. The severe plaque was greatly reduced and I'm hoping that a cleaning will be all that is needed. Their checkup next month will tell if Proden has remedied the situation or if it has only helped. I'm hoping that I have avoided the need for the anesthesia based on how much her teeth have improved, but do expect that I'll need a cleaning still. Visually, I can see that their teeth have improved, but I am going to let the vet tell me what the status is. I do wish that I found this when they were kittens, as I'm sure that this will help keep their teeth clean and plaque free. EDIT 10/24/11 Both cats had their teeth cleaned last week (non-anesthesia) and received a excellent checkup. I learned that Proden was recommended by the vet and that their gums were surprisingly healthy. I was told that there was no bleeding during the procedure and that their gums were in great shape, especially for 6 year old cats that never had any dental work. The vet had experience with Proden and said it was helping not only their teeth, but their gums too. Time for the big bottle of Proden.

Love this product
This product rocks. It was recommended by my veterinarian for mt 5 year old Golden doodle. She had plaque on her teeth and we do not want to have teeth cleaned by the veterinarian because it is expensive and I do not want to put her under for something that we can take care of at home. It goes in her food every night. She doesn't even know it. This and a daily Greenie keep her breath very fresh and keeps the plaque from getting worse it is actually getting better. It goes by size if yourvoet, my girl is 65 pounds so it lasts for a couple of months. It is a great product and very reasonably priced.

Digestive Issues
I Wanted To Love It. I bought Plaque Off for my pack. I read all of the reviews, knew about the tummy upsets some reported. I took that information into consideration and slowly started adding a small amount to their daily meal. I had been giving the Plaque Off for more than a month, about 7 weeks, when one dog started showing signs of Gastrointestinal issues. One sick dog turned into all of my pack being sick within a 2 week period. Do I think Plaque Off caused the illness? Not necessarily because the virus seemed to be highly contagious. The best I can figure is the plague off may have contributed to a weakened immunity for all of my dogs and they were unable to fight off what ever virus one dog brought home from the Groomer. I have dogs that go to the Groomer every two weeks. This has been the norm for years. This is the FIRST time they've gotten ill, and the entire lot of them became life threatening ill. The money, medicine, special diets, quarantine and round the clock intensive care it took to save my dogs lives and get them better came at a great cost and extensive toll on us physically and emotionally. Because of the immunity issues, likely caused by upset in the gut microbiome after using Plaque Off, I discontinued using this product and will not try again. We're the two issues related? The product & the illness? I can't say for 100% certainty, but I can't take the chance monetarily or emotionally to give the product another try. I feel this review was necessary to add the voice of another customer that had major digestive issues with their pet.

Works Well for Dental Health, but Not Without Drawbacks
I’ve seen some clear improvements in my dog’s teeth since using this dental supplement. His plaque buildup has reduced noticeably, and his teeth look cleaner and whiter overall. I’ve also noticed better breath quality, which is a big plus. In terms of effectiveness, I can see why some customers say it’s even better than professional cleanings at the vet because it really does make a difference. However, it’s not perfect. While some dogs seem to tolerate it with no issues, mine had a bit of diarrhea during the first few days of using it. It eventually settled down, but it’s definitely something to watch for, especially if your dog has a sensitive stomach. The smell is another mixed bag. Some say it smells great; personally, I find it a bit unpleasant, though my dog doesn’t seem to mind. As for the price, I’m on the fence. It is expensive, but if it helps avoid frequent vet cleanings, I can see how it might save money in the long run. Still, for what you get, it feels a little overpriced. Overall, it’s a decent supplement that delivers real dental benefits, but the potential side effects and high cost keep it from being a perfect product.

Amazing results
We have been using this with our dog for a little over a year and are very impressed! Prior to using this, a dental cleaning was recommended for our dog about once per year. Using this product (even a few times a week instead of the recommended once daily) worked on our dog's teeth well enough to push her recommended annual dental cleaning out to being once every other year. At our dog's most recent dental cleaning, her teeth were in the best condition in awhile and required no teeth extractions or other work! As a dentist and dog owner, I am very pleased with this product. Our dog loves when we sprinkle it on her food and as an added bonus, seems to enjoy eating her food more with it.

It makes a difference
I wasn’t sure if it was actually doing anything at first but then we ran out for about two weeks and my dog’s breath could clear a room. I was like wow, I didn’t realize it made that much of a difference but it does. It is small but it lasts us about a month or a little longer. My dog doesn’t seem to care if it’s on his food or not so I’m not sure if it tastes like anything or not to them. I buy the 2.1oz bottle so it’s roughly the size of a seasoning bottle. My dog is an 85lb German shepherd and I do 3 scoops in the morning.

Fresher breath. 11 year old border collie
I started using this dental powder after my 11-year-old Border Collie had to have a couple of teeth removed and the rest polished at the vet due to tartar buildup. Our vet recommended trying a dental powder, and I’m really glad we did. I just sprinkle it onto his food each day and he eats it without any fuss. His bad breath has pretty much disappeared, and after a couple of months his teeth seem to be staying much cleaner. A tub also lasts ages since you only use a small amount each day, so it feels like good value. Overall, a really easy way to help keep his teeth and breath in better condition.

Keinerlei Zahnstein mehr
Dieses Muschelpulver neutralisiert die Speichel des Hundes. Fazit: Keinerlei Zahnstein. Bereits vorhandener Zahnstein löst sich von selbst. Nutze dieses Pulver bereits seit 25 Jahren. Die Zähne der Hunde waren immer frei von Zahnstein.
