I needed a good mat that could be used for my rifle, shotgun in any of the pistols. Not only is this pad good when cleaning it's also a great way to keep track of the parts while working on a gun. The size is just right for my workbench and I've ordered a slightly smaller pad to allow me to spread some of the work between 2 benches. The overall quality of the material is exceptional. The pad can be easily laid out and used. I especially like the rubberized back which means the Tao does not move on either a steel bench top or would. Best of all, the material used by the manufacturer really does stop spills cleaning fluid or other products migrating through the pad and invading the actual benchtop. My primary bench for reloading and cleaning has a metal top, so spills wouldn't be a problem normally. But a steel top can sometimes make cleaning some liquids a bit harder because of viscosity and adhesion properties. That's where this pad literally shines (both bench and empirically). I have to say, though, that I'm not sure how effective it would be with a large spill;. So far all I've experienced have been fairly small spills from gun cleaning solvent or oils. A friend did spill his coffee near the bench and some of that got on the pad, but it was cleaned off immediately. All in all, I'd say the pad does what it is supposed to do. The pad is machine washable, which makes for an even better solution to spills. About the only negative thing, and this is purely a personal issue, is that the pad is large enough I've been able to take apart 2 pistols at the same time. This is not a practice I normally use, mostly because I don't want to confuse any of the parts with the other gun and find myself waistin gtime fixing an otherwise avoidable error. On this occasion, though, the job needed to be done quickly so I used the large pad as my basic work area. The pad composition is such that parts do not easily roll or shift around. More importantly, the pad is large that you can easily field strip any two pistols and have plenty of room. Still not a habit I want to get into but at least I know if I have to do it again I have a sufficiently low large pad. All in all, I am very happy with the pads construction, material and overall quality. I'd recommend this pad to anyone that has space for its size.

Definitely better the having residue all over the space you're working on. Good amount of space for a 1 or 2 guns cleaning.

Perfect for protecting the dining table! Thin but good non skid back. Length and width just right for working on your rifle. Keeps oil and cleaners off tables or benches where you don’t want it. Protects metal parts from scratches. Price not bad for the quality.

Really pleased with this pad its great when I clean my guns. But I can see a use for this on any bench, for any work requiring some protection between your item and the bench!
