Skills and Tools for Today's Counselors and Psychotherapists: From Natural Helping to Professional Counseling (with DVD) (Skills, Techniques, & Process)

Being that I'm in my 4th year of a BA in Human Services, I've had to read quite a few texts on contemporary treatment approaches, ethical issues, and self-care while counseling. This book is a refreshing change from the norm in that it provides similar information but does so in a format that compares clinical, trained counseling to informal, natural "helpers" in order to highlight the vast different between an untrained friend who considers themsevles "a good listener" and a professional trained to help a client progress. I'm really enjoying it as a text book.

Seller responded to my questions, textbook was reasonably priced and had the DVD-Yay :). Textbook is in great condition, just as described, and DVD is excellent as well. Thanks to the seller!

This book did not come with the DVD meant for the book. It was replaced with a printer installation program instead by the previous owner, and the DVD was cracked.

Great textbook. Fit perfectly with my course and arrived in the condition stated. Although I did not keep the textbook, it could be used as reference for other courses.

This is a great textbook for those of us who are "helpers" who need to hone our skills to become professionals. Very helpful. Accompanying DVD is crucial for visual learners, and also helps learners to see skills in action.
