I adore this machine
Absolutely wicked machine, the graphics are absurdly good, the screen is wonderful with an incredibly rich picture. The fans are surprisingly quiet for the rpm they can reach, and the speakers.... they honestly get loud enough that an entire room can easily hear them, to a level that if it were my wife watching tv, I'd have asked her to turn it down a little, lol The keyboard was actually an added bonus, the per-key rbg lighting wasn't included in my decision in getting this particular laptop, but once i got into checking it out, i honestly spent about 3 hours fiddling with different lighting effects, and by this point i can say, being able to color code specific keys is amazing. One thing limiting it is the drive space, although it has both an open 2.5" and an open m.2 slot on the motherboard for expansion. I talked to msi about the m.2 and from what I've gathered, it's another nvme, although, if you ARE looking to upgrade your space, i would NOT put a second nvne in it, because it's not directly in front of an intake cooling vent. I personally went with a crucial mx500 2tb, and running apex legends on max settings, i noticed it was in average about 5-10°C cooler between the cpu/gpu running off the ssd than the nvme with no noticeable performance changes other than maybe a 2-3sec load time with the game. That being said, this is a laptop, even the 9th gen i7's get warm. Unleashed and with a slightly increased fan speed ramping (thanks dragon center) and a cooling pad, i was looking at roughly 75 on cpu, average of 65-70 on gpu. So, still well within safe operating range, but I'm a stickler for thermal performance. So, mild editing if the power plan, dropping max cpu usage to 95%, suddenly I'm playing for 4hrs straight, with an average cpu temp of 55, average gpu is 60, no noticeable negative changes in game performance whatsoever. Again, running off the 2.5" ssd, not the nvme. Same with playing hitman 2, same temperatures, maybe a drop of 10fps, which isn't a big deal when it means increasing the lifespan of everything involved. Overall, ecstatic over owning this absolute beast of a system, it's one that was designed with love and care, and i couldn't have chosen better. It's a laptop, so i know it's not going to perform as well as a desktop, but i was looking for something i could take with me to game on as stress relief after work when I'm out of town away from my family, and i can webcam with them each night. Plus it's a nice middle ground purchase instead of the price tag attached to my next planned desktop build, lol My one legitimate complaint with it is a minor one, that the C: and D: partitions that are on the nvme drive that comes with it are not in sequential order, meaning you can't simply delete the D: drive and expand the C: drive with the unallocated space, meaning you have to relocate things on the drive to make the C: drive and open space be next to eachother before you can. I'm sure this is a minor fix, but still, for the sake of nitpicking, it WOULD make things a little more convenient by posting the drives side by side from the start. If you're one of those wanting someone to bring up the slightest of flaws, then that's pretty much all there is that i can list, aside from that the space bar makes the slightest of sound and the touchpad can be slightly temperamental for a few minutes from a stone cold startup. Stay away from the game mode in dragon center, what i noticed from running apex legends is that it just makes everything run hotter without any substantial performance increase gain to justify it, it changes your selected power plan to high performance and doesn't revert it when you turn game mode off, so....meh. All in all, one hell of a pc, the 9th gen 9750H performs substantially better than an 8th gen 8750H, I've owned and operated both within the past 6 months, and the 1660ti performs better and cooler than a 1060ti for sure If anyone's looking at upgrading ram later on, this will take on 3200mhz, though honestly the 16gb of 2660 has been handling everything I've thrown at it beautifully and using only roughly 30%. Random comment- the fans and vents are really well laid out, even under heavy load with less than desirable thermal temps of 75°C before my tweaking of settings, not once did i notice any heat escaping up through the keyboard. Like i said, it's a beast. Can't wait to see what i can get out if it when it comes time to repaste with some kryonaut and swap my editing of the power plan for legitimate undervolting where i can still make use of the boost clock without raising temps :) Can't speak in the battery life, as i leave mine set for best battery life and have yet to operate it for more than 5min off battery by choice. It's just undeniably better running plugged in, like every other performance laptop. edit: 2/1/20 still running like a beast, repasted with kryonaut on cpu and gpu about a month ago, changed max power state for the processor to 97% in the power plan management settings. thermal dissipation capabilities vary from game to game depending on how well optimized the game is. typical average for both cpu and gpu is about 56-60C which is awesome, though might have something to do with me adjusting fan speeds in dragon center (worth spending some time tweaking and making your own fan ramping settings). whenever i exit a game, it drops temps down by nearly 20 degrees within a minute, which is sick. for those looking at keeping this computer long term, the paste it came with started to dry out on the gpu after about 6 months, so just plan on repasting around then. it was simple to open up, the screws needed to remove the heatsinks (they come off as a pair) are numbered, so you can easily keep track. the biggest issue i had was getting the cpu heatsink off because the thermal pads msi uses maintain the consistency of marshmallow fluff after a while, lol. for the first repaste, the pads seemed to be well off enough that i just scraped them off with the plastic spatula that came with my kryonaut and respread them evenly across everything they had been covering, but i've asked msi what thickness can be used and the reply i got was 1-2mm for future referrence. oddly enough, though the cpu had reached higher temps, it's thermal paste was still wet, it was only that covering the gpu that had even started to dry and get crumbly in a small spot. still absolutely in love with this laptop. even bought an awesome case for it and all my misc stuff i take with it when i go out of town for work, will add pictures to this review in a bit, both of my setup with it ready to go, it's internals, and it in it's travel "crate".

Amazing!
Hands down the best gaming laptop you can get at this price point. Runs like a dream and the graphics are beautiful but the battery life could be better

Beware!!!
I bought this product. I was sent the wrong laptop. One that was an older model and much less in quality. After opening it. I noticed a scratch on the screen. After a few weeks the hard drive stopped working and now the laptop wont even turn on. The company did try to make it right by refunding a small portion of the cost. However after the hard drive stopped working they want me to pay to ship it back for repair. I had this barely 4 weeks. Buyer Beware.

Best laptop ever made...BUT
This is the perfect gaming rig that balances, heat, performance, portability and use. The ONLY gripe I have with it is the horribly bad touch pad. Worse than 90s laptops were if you are old enough to remember, if not, THATS BAD!

Best gaming laptop at this price range
This is a solid rig for gaming and business use. It’s very important to activate the fans into “cooler boost” under the MSI Dragon Center when gaming, otherwise laptop will get hot. It is not necessary to boost the fans for normal/internet use. I paired this with a separate Etrobot gaming keyboard I got here on amazon and it’s perfect. My mouse is a razor synapse I got from Best Buy. Overall this makes for a powerful gaming PC without breaking the bank. The next upgrades for $2,000+ are way pricier and you aren’t gaining that much in power.

A solid laptop although battery could improve .
Battery life is not the best, but then again, its a gaming laptop. It does its work nicely. Fast, reliable, and looks solid. Yet, i am suprised it still feels light for the size.

This thing exceeded all expectations!
I just received this MSI laptop a day ago and so far is highly impressed. I'm primarily a gamer and wanted something that could push through games and not kill my ears with fan noise. So far the fans have been the quietest of any laptop I've tried, and trust me, I've tried alot. The GPU temps and CPU temps are very good. I'm an OCD type person, so if this laptop makes the smallest noise or has any minimal issue, I freak out.As of now, I have not one issue with this laptop except one, The Mouse track pad. When I type, I end up resting my hand on it and moves the pointer or I click the button and messes stuff up on the screen. But, that is not a deal breaker, I just have to be alittle more carefully where I rest my palms when I type. As for gaming, this 1660 ti is handling all my games beyond expectations. My FPS hangs around 100 to 120 on high or ultra settings in all my games. The screen is sharp and the response time is awesome. I do wish it was made of metal, but it's all plastic. Feels alittle cheap, but again, not a deal breaker. It does have plenty of storage. 2- M.2 drives and a 2.5 drive. I highly recommend this laptop.

Loved this laptop, before it started to fall apart
I have used this laptop since 2020 lockdown. Recently, all at once, both hinge covers busted and now my screen lays dangling. After some quick research I saw that this is a fairly common problem. MSI, do better!
