What a difference. I wish I’d known about this little device 20 years ago. It really makes a huge impact not having jet exhaust blowing stuff all over the place. It reduces noise, dust and just makes the job less difficult. It fits perfectly on my 20 gallon rigid vac and seems well built. I now use this in conjunction with a quality shop vac bag, hepa filter and filter cover. Protect your lungs.

This didn’t fit my shop vac like it’s supposed to. Mine doesn’t have a long enough exhaust piece for this to clip on, but I just shoved it on there to make it work. The red clip just isn’t needed in my case. I feel like this would be a better product if the foam part wasn’t so porous. It seems to work well and prevent dust from shooting everywhere until it gets dirty, which doesn’t take very long. I mainly use my shop vac to clean up sawdust in my garage. Maybe if you use yours to vacuum up bigger particles it’ll work better.

Calms the jet engine blowing hot air and dust from the Ridgid wet dry 16 gallon, good god.

This vendor and others who sell similar products should reconsider their advertising. This and similar products are not mufflers, they are diffusers. They will not 'turn down the volume' so to speak, at least not noticeably. If you want a nearly silent shop vac, you'll have to place it in an enclosure designed for the purpose of noise reduction. As a diffuser, this works very well. My shop vacs exhaust went from a directed gale strength blast to a harmless emission without noticeably sacrificing power. Without a diffuser, the exhaust from my vac is powerful enough to create a mess if unintentionally aimed at an area with sawdust, dust and debris. The filter can be easily removed for cleaning. My only gripe is that with the adapter attached, it protrudes further than I'd like but not enough so to cause problems. Good product and works well for *diffusing* the exhaust.

I bought this product for my new DeWALT 12 gallon Poly Wet/Dry Vac. Pros; Follow the enclosed directions and you’ll find that you can remove the adapter and it will fit fine in a 2” exhaust opening. Easy to take apart and clean. Helps keep the dust from blowing out of the exhaust. I would say my uncalibrated DB meter on my iPhone showed about a 5 dB difference in noise with and without the diffuser measure at 10 feet. Due to my hearing aids, I have to wear the ear muff type of hearing protection so I actually hear very little sound. When using ear plug type of hearing protection I hear a lot more noise. Cons; On my vac this sits above the tool bag which causes a little obstruction to get to the tools. In my case, I was removing the tool caddie as I was sucking up old bark and dirt so I didn’t want to get inside of it.

I searched for "shop vac muffler" in Amazon. The search results included only items of this type, which are diffusers with a relatively open pore foam filter on it. I mistakenly thought this would reduce some of the vacuum noise but I should have read the description more carefully. This is just a diffuser and exhaust filter. It does nothing for noise. In the end it's another piece of vacuum accessory that will get clogged up and will require cleaning, especially if you're using your shop vac frequently and for wood working for instance. I use a cyclone dust collector with my shop vac so I don't have an 'debris' shooting out of my vacuums exhaust port. What I really needed was a muffler and this isn't it. Will be returning it promptly.

I've build'n adapter for my Kaercher WD 3, but the subjective result is not better than 10%.... Sorry, but no better info!

Esse é similar do original da Ridgid, mas gostei, é difícil achar esse produto no Brasil, impede a massa de ar de sair, o que é bom, mas não reduz tanto o ruído assim, encaixou na saída sem o adaptador.

Really helps with exhaust, it diffuses successfully preventing dust being blown all over. It makes a slight difference in noise, but only from the exhaust. This device cannot and is not designed to make the vacuum quieter because most of the noise comes from the motor. It does quiet the exhaust by decreasing it.

Did not find much difference in the noise. A bit effective in managing when vacuuming very dusty places.
