Yes, I have mine in a large pot. It is a healthy plant but an extremely small, slow growing one so a tub or pot is sufficient.

Will this grow quickly up through a home made trellis and will it handle cold weather

Definitely withstand winter, thought ours was dead but started to grow again. Ours is growing up the trellis but has only grown about 10 inches this year. Think they grow quicker after a year

Is this type of jasmin fragrant?

It’s supposed to be. Mine hasn’t flowered yet although it has grown and looks healthy.
