Finally! a book that cuts through the BS about a subs!
Because suboxone is so new ( a decade or so ), bup patents desperately needed a voice of reason about the TRUTH about subs. This book confirmed much of what I've researched over the years taking subs as well as enlightened me about some other things. Sebastian does an amazing job of cutting to the chase and focusing on the most important, succinct things we need to know about suboxone. Debunking the myths and sharing great solutions to the many problems we can face, I highly recommend this book to anyone with questions about this drug.

Suboxone tips
I enjoyed reading this book on suboxone, and will recommend it others. It's always helpful to read what an addict who has tried this treatment, or other treatments, feels has been instrumental in their recovery program.

Very true and to the point...
I can strongly relate with this book. The guy knows what he is talking about. Once I started reading this, I couldn't put it down. Very informative I feel for myself and the next person that is going through it.

Useful information, much of which may seem obvious
Useful information, much of which may seem obvious, exercise, eat right, stay busy, lose the bad influences, etc. One thing that really jumps out is the arbitrary starting dose. This is just wrong and starting at 16mg is almost criminal. The author never explains how he decided on that amount and that amount should be the starting amount for everyone. People debate the use of Suboxone on a long term versus short term basis. The jury is still out on that one but shorter term use has gained more ground the last couple of years versus when Suboxone was first introduced. Getting back to the starting dose. Suboxone treatment has whats called an induction period. The purpose for that is to find the "right" amount of Suboxone to start with. The purpose is to eliminate what the author prescribed "16 mg starting dose". Induction is simple but very important and it goes like this. Once in withdrawals you start to introduce Suboxone to your system by taking a small dose, say 1-2mg. then you wait about 45 minutes and evaluate how you feel, if you are still sick take another 1mg dose. You continue this process until you feel comfortable. At that point that is your starting dose. A large percentage of people will be surprised at how little you actually need to feel comfortable. By comfortable I mean not being a real puss about it and think a sore back is the end of the world, So, people find comfort quite often between the 4-8 mg range starting dose.As the author described, Suboxone reaches a point that more will do little if anything for the user once the receptors are covered. That is one reason 16 mg is an ungodly amount and when you take into account the long half life your daily 16 mg dose piles on and soon your actually walking around with amount well above 16 mg. If you choose long or short term use it is critical to start at the lowest amount possible, it makes the taper so much easier and quicker. The author hit the nail on the head when he stated that Suboxone is not a cure but a tool. If you follow the suggestions given by the author your chances of staying clean will increase. Just taking Suboxone and changing little else in your life is a relapse waiting to happen regardless of using Suboxone short or long term. Exercise, eating better foods, staying busy and losing the drug buds and places is a requirement. Opiate users can sit in front of the TV all day and night and do very little and still feel fulfilled because of the drug. Once the opiate effects are removed engaging in the same behavior will become mind numbing boring and depressing. That is why staying busy helps. I would have rated the book 4 stars but the use of a 16 mg starting dose is so misleading and the lack of such a critical part of Suboxone treatment, the induction period and it's explanation only bring a 3 star rating

This book was exactly what I needed as a physician just starting to treat patients with buprenorphine. Thank you Sebastian. Great work. Stephen Ducker, MD

Great book by someone who understands....Most physicians aren't taking this medication...so its hard for them to identify with its problems and solutions.
