I like this book though dated
Microsoft Expression Web can now be downloaded free of charge. I bought the book to construct a web-stie by myself. It is clearly written. The drawback is that it is slightly out of date. I don't think there will be any updating on this book because Microsoft no longer supports Expression Web.For beginners I recommend it.Caution: Beginners should not be led into believing the book teaches you everything. Basic knowledge on HTML is required.

A dummy review by a dummy
What I like about this book is that you can start with the 1st page and read it to the end. It has a lot of information that made me want to open the program and begin tinkering around with the website I was working on, and I did. I inherited the site which had been created in FrontPage. I had limited experience with managing a website but had used Dreamweaver and so I just imported the site and started managing it. Along the way I started experiencing problems, most frustrating was the ftp function in DW quit working. I found a work around (thanks Google) and stumbled on for a little while longer. I had acquired Expression Web V2 and thought I'd give it a try. After installing the program I realized I had neither the time or patience to try and use the tutorial that came with the program. I needed an easy to understand reference. Once I admitted to being a dummy the rest was a no-brainer. Good stuff!! I want to say also that I bought this book from Goodwill of the Heartland. I've already reviewed them but I have to say if they have anything else I need they are going to get my money based on service and the knowledge that the money I spent is going to help out another human who needs a hand up. We can all use more business with folks like them.Peace,Mike

Overall a good book as a foundation course for web
The topics covered here are covered very well and the writer has a light humorous style, without being patronising. You will not however be able to apply for the position of web designer at a major corporation after completing it. My problem with it is that there are a number of topics that are referred to and skimmed over. One example is drop down menus - to me a very important one. The book directs you to a site from which you can download software for building them. The problem is that when you visit it you are told that the site has been discontinued. Overall a good book as a foundation course for web design

Microsoft Expression Web For Dummies
Useful, but far from the best of its type as it falls between two stools. There is much very simple information for example on fonts and colours (for Dummies), and other sections such as that on CSS styles nearly impossible to grasp. There is no mention of frames, little on usability (as opposed to the needs of the handicaped) and virtually none on the difference between Expression and the earlier versions of FrontPage. Everyone will have his or her own needs but this book is uneven in its coverage and does not always reflect what actually happens when you try to use a feature, such as dynamic templates.

Thank you Microsoft
For people wishing to put up a website that looks good and functions well without investing a couple years becoming a coder this software and the easy to do Dummies book on it, is a life saver.Claudia Strasbaugh

Good resource
This book may not be the best book available to get you up & running with expression web quickly, but it has been a valuable resource for me. It has a good index for finging topics quickly, and the explanations of how to do things in Expression Web are fairly simple.

Absolute Necessity to Understand the Program
This manual is an absolute necessity in order to understand all the fantastic features and available techniques used in the Expression Web 3 program. I am certainly glad I found one for the right price and I realize I will keep it by my PC Library at all times. I have confindence in Amazon and their policies in order to insure purchases are accurate and dependable.

Very detailed...very frustrating
Expression Web for Dummies is not the book for you if you want a quick overview of the program, or a tutorial that will get a website up and running quickly. I really wasn't sure what to expect, but I knew what I wanted out of a guide: I wanted to be able to pick up the book and put up a website within an hour or so. I've read 5 chapters so far, and I haven't even started to cover inserting photos. I'm sure the information is all there; it's just not organized the way that I'd like it. Personally, I would much rather have a step-by-step tutorial that gets your first website up and running, and THEN goes in-depth on how to go about every little thing. I have a feeling Expression Web for Dummies will be a wonderful reference once I've learned the program on my own.

Not helpfu
I have designed web sites with MS Front Page and used the Dummies book for it, which I found very helpful. I expected with that experience to find Web Expressions 2 an easy transition, especially with the help of the appropirate Dummies book again. Well, wrong! This book runs an unhappy gamut from patchwork to muddle and back again. The authors' handling of CSS, for example, bounces back and forth between creation and application in a very disjointed, and, thus, confusing way. The authors lose the plot too often, and the reader along with it.Amazon has other much better books on Web Expression 2 than this one. Keep on looking!

Its a difficult subject anyway
In order to make better use of Expression Web from Microsoft as an opportunity given at low cost to webmasters who work on a small scale, I purchased this book hoping it would inspire me to handle what is a complex and sophisticated tool.I am still working my way through the book - but I am finding it quite hard going. At 70 you don't take in new things as you once did so I'll not blame the book entirely. My expectations of the Dummies book were high - perhaps too high. This one is hard work.

USELESS
A very poor book that misses out coverage of fundamental parts of the software. It looks like they just cut and paste large chunks from their Front Page books, failing to mention or explain significant features (and problems). Index is also lazily put together. This is not worth the money. If you know anything about web design - and/or have used Front Page - save your money.

A little perplexed over the word "Dummies"!
I bought this book to help me design my own web page(s).I have read a little of it, but to date, have not had the time (or the patience!) to design one!A good, well laid out book.
