I find this book to be very useful, it's refreshing my mind regarding music and finger exercises

I bought this for a grandson that wants to be a pro musician. He jokingly referred to this as his gift that gave him homework, lol, but he also said that he really needed the info within.

I needed a primer on reading music that would prepare me to more competently read, lead sheets and general written music. I’m wanting to work my way through the compositions and transcribed improvisations of others. This book has helped a lot, and the kindle format is great, as the last thing I need is more printed books.

I found the explanations way too brief and not all that well laid out. Too many grammatical mistakes as well.

This is a great introduction for beginners like me. I read the whole thing, cover to cover. I also have his music theory book which is a good companion book. This does not have an exhaustive or definitive treatment of music notation, but if it did then it wouldn't be good for beginners.
