"Darkside, " a play written by Tom Stoppard for BBC Radio 2, incorporating music from Pink Floyd s iconic The Dark Side of the Moon is released as a deluxe CD package on 25 November. The play was an original commission by Radio 2 to mark the 40th anniversary of Pink Floyd s album, and broadcast on 26 August 2013. Produced in collaboration with Sir Tom Stoppard s publishers Faber and Faber, the luxury package resembles a hard-backed book, including a CD carrying the 54-minute play, which includes the majority of The Dark Side of the Moon album, plus a 56-page bound insert of the play s script. "Darkside" is an abstract and compelling drama which follows Emily, a philosophy student, through a series of thought experiments, which are vividly brought to life. The play also ranges over a series of grand themes, which are both thought provoking and laced with Stoppard s characteristic wit and humour. The cast is impressive, with Bill Nighy as Dr Antrobus/the Witch Finder, Rufus Sewell is Mr Baggott/Ethics Man, Adrian Scarborough is Fat Man and Emily is Amaka Okafor. A must for any Pink Floyd Fan!!
I received this the other day and it surpassed my expectations. I am a long time Pink Floyd fan and I also love plays. This is the best of both worlds! It has an unexpected ending, but really stayed true to the Band. Being able to follow along in the hardcover book is also a plus.

Interesting way to commemorate 40 years of Dark Side
Before I start, you should know that I haven't listened to very many radio plays in the past, so I don't have a lot of experience to compare this to. That being said, I've listened to this 3 times now, and then rad along with it a fourth time. I have enjoyed this, though the first time through I was a bit confused by the story line. Part of the reason for that was I wasfocusing more on the music itself and its integration into the play. But the subsequent llistenings made more sense to me, and I thought the overall theme was an interesting one. As a Pink Floyd fan, I would say this is something worth listening to. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it is always intriguing to find different interpretations of music (and in this case an entire album) you've loved for years...

CD Skips right out of the box. Great music awful delivery.
Love the album, hate the packaging. No protection of the CD at all. I have tried 10 times to rip it so I can listed via MP3 in the car and it skips somewhere in the hour long CD. CD damaged write out of the box, but until to are on a trip and listen to the whole thing (it is 1 track) you will not know it. There was no digital download with this so I am just out the money.

long awaited release
I had long awaited the release after hearing the original airing on the radio .The addition of the dialogue in the package is really helpful . The only point of concern was the general construction of the product . As soon as I opened the book format itself the book came away at the front from the outer main hardback surround .

Magnífico homenaje para este pedazo de disco de Pink Floyd. No le doy las 5 estrellas porque el libro viene encuadernado regular, y porque todas las canciones del CD son una única pista de audio

GENIAL ! Must have für Pink Floyd Fans
Es ist einfach Wahnsinn. Tom Stoppard hat mit diesem Hörbuch ein Meisterwerk geschaffen! Es basiert auf dem Album "Darkside of the Moon" von Pink floyd und erzählt quasi eine Geschichte die bereits in der Musik "versteckt" ist. Zwar ist das Höhrbuch Englisch was für mich jedoch nicht all zu schlimm es, da es ein sehr deutliches "oxford english" ist und eine Deutsche Übersetzung als PDF beiliegt. Als Pink Floyd Fan kann ich nur sagen: KAUFEN !!!
