Review: Excellent Idea and execution, a great addition to the kit - This is probably going to be way too long of a review for a $12.95 mount. But I will cover a lot of consideration points. I like this for a great number of reasons and I do agree with one negative (although just a bit) PROS: 1. Easy to use and has a very small footprint compared to other mounts. Most of us are carrying GoPros for vlogging for the fact that they are kinda stealthy too begin with. I find it really easy to get somebody relaxed enough to talk to the camera if it is small and unintimidating. Gone are the days of sticking a Canon XL-1 in someone's face. 2. It answers a real issue with Mic mounting. Mounting on top of other types of cases (see photo right) it truly does get the Mic well off of the body and the incline of the mount just works perfect, even with the dead cat on the Mic. In my prefered shooting format (linear) the Mic with the dead cat on this mount, it is not seen by the lens. THIS WAS A MAJOR CONSIDERATION WHEN I WAS LOOKING AT MOUNTS. The below the camera mounts with a sticky Cold Shoe to mount on the top of the GoPro cage just seems senseless to me. Mic is going to be in a lot of shots and its sticky stuff added onto the cage, why..... 3. No need to buy other cases (although I do like my blue case for one reason I'll explain in the CONS) 4. Sturdy and no additional moving parts. Holds everything neatly where it needs to be. CONS 1. I do somewhat agree that the fact you have to slide the mount over to press the record button may be a nuisance. But I use my iPhone or iPad for control of my GoPro in the vlog spot so I do not see it as an issue. Plus it is sturdy enough and well built enough that sliding it a bit, won't hurt it or your GoPro. OTHER CON that has nothing to do with the mount but you should consider. The GoPro cage does not allow for the side door to be opened and the adaptor to be connected. You must remove the door cover to use anything that plugs into the GoPro through the factory cage. My blue case allows me to open the Mic cover and not remove the cover to plug in the adaptor. Which is a big win for me since I have lost 2cover doors over the last couple of years. Lastly, for the two 1 star reviews that had nothing to do with the mount, READ the entire description before you buy anything else, EVER. Really, the first line in the description "Allows to attach an external Microphone and the GoPro adapter, to the Original Gopro Hero Case Series 7, 6, 5. " NOTHING SAYS, "Allows you to attach the INCLUDED Rode Mic. And to the other hater, look at the pictures! Clearly shows what is included. Heck yes a Rode VideoMicro Mic and an adapter for $12.95, Sign me up. I'll call foul hater on this one since there was no mention of the over priced GoPro adapter... Just a little rant. Sorry. Review: Great product but may block record button depending on mic - The Anlasser slides over the top of the original GoPro Hero case and fits perfectly. It can be shaken around and stay exactly in place, and yet it is still easy to slide the Anlasser on and off. If you have a microphone that plugs directly into the the microphone adapter, such as the Edutige or Saramonic mics, then the record button will be blocked. You will have to use voice commands or a remote to start recording. However if you use a mic that attaches to the top of the Anlasser mount, as shown in the picture, then it is very easy to slide the Anlasser over a bit to access the record button. When compared to the Ulanzi housing, I prefer the Anlasser, even though the Anlasser blocks the record button with my Edutige mic. The Ulanzi seems cheap as though it will fall apart, and it was difficult to get my GoPro in and out of the housing. I would not use the Ulanzi in any extreme situation. In contrast, the Anlasser is made of a superior material and I doubt it will ever break. It is very easy to slide on and off, but it is such a perfect fit that it wont fall off unless, perhaps, it takes a strong hit on the side. The Anlasser is compact which makes it great for travel, and it works with the original GoPro case. Because it works with the original case, you can go from a microphone setup to a setup that will work underwater, without too much of a hassle and without taking up too much space in your bag.

Best mount when wanting to use the original Gopro case
I purchased this cause you need a mic adapter if you want to use an external mic on a gopro. I liked the idea that this uses the original case that came with my gopro (hero 6 black). It slides over the clamp of the case. I mounted my rode mic on the cold shoe mount but you could still see the fluffy part in the shot. I already had a cold shoe extension so it wasn't a problem for me, but something you may want to consider getting along with this mount. Only reason for taking off a star was because a couple of times the mount has wiggled itself loose and when the mic adapter is not plugged into the gopro, it can easily slide out of the mount. When it's plugged in, the pressure on the cord keeps it from moving. Just something to be aware of.

The right choice for me
Review for "ANLASSER Microphone Mount for GoPro Hero 7, 6, 5 and Housing for Mic Adapter, Works with Original GoPro Case with Universal Cold Shoe Adapter". First let me say that I'm frustrated with GoPro that I have to have their silly adapter to attach an external microphone to my camera in the first place, but since I do then this is a great housing for that adapter. Several reviewers have commented on the fact that it covers the start/stop recording button, and it does, however, I've found that for my purposes I'm usually starting and stopping the video either by voice or on my phone app, and even if I'm not, it's very simple to slide it out of the way long enough to push the button and then slide it back if you need to. I do think it needs to be mention that it is not a tight grip on the camera housing nor does it have a tight grip on the GoPro mic adapter, so it's not designed for use in "action" video. I imagine that you could add a very thin piece of material of some kind that would add to the friction to make it a tighter hold if you needed to, but for me I'm not likely to be using the external mic when shooting very much action. The bottom line is that this is a well designed and built, simple device that does what it is designed for. It appears to be very sturdy and fits where it is supposed to fit very well. I would recommend it if it fits your needs.

Affordable and good!
Holds the dumb mic dongle and raises the dead cat on my Rode mic out of view without a secondary adapter like other GP cases that replace the factory GP case seem to require. I haven't shot a lot of video with the Rode mic to comment on the audio quality with confidence but I'm sure it's a good bump.

Just buy it
This is a great product. Serves a dual purpose by both housing the GoPro dongle as well as elevating your mic/dead cat out of the FOV. Just an overall terrific design, couldn't be happier.....

Finally a solution to the gopro adapter
The fact that I dont have to purchase a different case and I can use my original gopro case, this is a keeper. Fitment was perfect, didnt feel loose, it is nice and firm. My gopro 5 is about to go to work again ๐

Elegent simplicity of design
For a block of plastic this is pretty slick. A simple solution at a great price, only missing one thing. I will use mine on my motorcycle and found that although it wasn't loose, there was no positive retention to stop it sliding off. I simply warmed the end of the long side and the middle of the short side where it slides onto the GoPro frame and pushed it in a little bit. Now it seats home with a reassuring click and doesn't move.
