Dancing for Kids (Baby Ballet / Tot Tap / Junior Jazz)

I am amazed that anyone gave this instructional DVD anything less than 5 stars. It teaches them so much for the amount of money I spent. I purchased 2 of these DVDs for my 4 granddaughters, aged 2,4,5, and 7. I also bought them each complete ballet outfits. Their reactions were as follows. The 7 year old liked the ballet part the best, and was very interested, the 5 year old is a little shy, and did'nt have much of a reaction at first, but with some encouragement from her parents and sister, Im sure she will participate. My other 2 granddaughters loved it and immediately tried to learn all of the moves, and have wanted their parents to put the DVD in repeatedly ever since they got it. My advice: Buy this DVD, get yourself and your kids off the couch, and spend time together encouraging them to learn how to dance and have fun. But dont waste your money if all you are trying to do is plug them into the TV to get them out of your way for awhile, because there are thousands of movies out there that can do that better than this video. Just remember how important excersize is for a healthy body! In closing, my personal favorite is the jazz section, which includes 4 adorable dance routines that they learn step by step. I recently purchased this for my daughters, ages six and a half and two and a half. My oldest loves it. We've done it together a couple of times and she has done it on her own a couple of times. My youngest likes to twirl around and imitate her sister, so it even holds her interest for a few minutes. If you're looking for a substitute for dance lessons, this won't fit the bill. However, if you are looking for a great intro to different styles of dance, this video is fantastic. There are two routines for each style of dance, demonstrated in short teaching segments. The teacher first demos the moves by herself--very clearly--and then you see the class perform that segment, eventually putting in all together. The teacher is nice and the girls in the video are cute as can be--I would guess around the age of my daughter. The dances are challenging enough for a new dancer to need some practise before they have the routines down, but not so overwhelming that they give up. Doing the different dances has helped my daughter decide which kind of dance lessons she'd like to take. It's also a great way to sneak in a little exercise for my daughters when the weather's bad. I'd highly recommend it!

I bought this video for my almost 3 year old. She can't do the moves, but I didn't expect her to. I knew she would simply enjoy watching it with occassional participation, and the exposure would help her with dance classes in the near future. She DOES like this video, and so does my 9 year old (but she doesn't know I'm telling you this). The reason this video doesn't get 5 stars is because Miss Mary doesn't smile!!!! The best way to teach a child is by example, and Miss Rosemary could benefit by lightening up a little and showing us and her class her shining pearly whites! It's okay to have fun and look like it, too!

We bought this DVD to encourage our 3 daughters to get up and move. They love dressing up in full dance gear and doing each of the 3 classes offered on this DVD. There is ballet, tap and jazz. Their favorite is jazz which teaches them some fun routines like "Jungle Monkey Swing" with fun, funky moves. This DVD does get them moving and they really enjoy it. The instructor is good, but she is somewhat mechanical and the entire class could be more fun if she were more animated and excited. Overall, a great buy for hours of movement and fun for my children. It is fun to see other kids on TV dancing so well!

My daughter is 25 months and begged for “dance lessons.” Photos are for her 2nd time with the DVD. Bear with the dates-attire, as I think this is great for younger kids. While we are using it with my daughter to feel as though there is equality with her 5 yr old brother, who goes to soccer 3x a week, pacing and memorization of the separate ballet, tap, and jazz lessons would keep children up to 7 engaged.It is handy that you can not only select between type of dance (ballet, tap, or jazz) but also move between lessons.

My daughter likes to watch this video to practice ballet, tap, and jazz. She's just under 3-yrs old, and the moves are easy enough for her to follow. I'll put this in for her to watch when I'm getting her dinner ready, and I can hear her from the kitchen saying ballet positions along with the instructor. It holds my toddler's attention for each segment, which is what I was looking for in an at-home instruction video. Plus, I wanted to test out a video before committing to dance lessons. Judging by her enthusiasm for this video, dance lessons will be in the near future.

This is a great dvd for children who are interested in ballet, tap or jazz. I purchased this for my 4 year old daughter who has been taking dance for the last 6 months. I thought it would be a good teaching tool during the summer months and give her a head start for the upcoming year. The teacher is good at giving instruction, but you may have to hit the back button a few times to fully understand the moves she is teaching, especially when she puts the moves in combination. The ballet and tap were easier to learn for my daughter. The jazz, however, is more advanced and my daughter just seemed to get lost when trying the moves. I definitely recommend this to any parent who has a child who wants to try dance for the first time or one who wants the extra practice between classes.

My 3 year old loves this. She would watch & dance everyday if I allowed it. My biggest complaint is the recording & picture itself is of inferior quality. She loves it so I am giving it the 4 stars. Just as a precaution, this is the same episode as the individual DVDs so do not make my mistake & buy this as well as the individual DVDs.

The quality of the video isn't fantastic, but the instruction seems to be good, and while my 5 year old was too shy to try most of it, my 2 year old tried his best to follow long, and my 3 year old enjoyed jumping in circles to the ballet music. I can't give a full review of this product since I only received it yesterday, November 12th, despite the fact that my order was placed on October 7th. Amazon.ca has disappointed me terribly, and after ordering for years from Amazon.com, and never having an issue, I am so upset by the misrepresentation of Amazon.ca that I will no longer order from them. I had intended to use this DVD as a school supplement, and introduce it during a segment featuring ballet, but because Amazon.ca has faulty information on their website at check out, this did not come in time, and I had to change my curriculum at the last minute, and take another direction.

This video is in English.It gives good instructions on each of the steps, which may be a little involved for the very little ones. I think this is not really "baby ballet...."; it is more appropriate for older kids (5 or 6+) who are better able to follow the steps and combine them. My three year old girl, who was initially very excited, lost interest quickly when she couldn't keep up with the step combinations. I'm hoping it will be useful when she's a little older.

These dance lessons are super boring for kids. If my daughter's real dance class was this boring, we'd pull her out and get a refund. I don't know what kind of kid would like this.
