This set is cheap so I figured it would be good enough for use while exploring a new hobby and then buying better quality later. One of the tools snapped within minutes of using it on Crayola Air Dry Clay. I wasn't using much force, just trimming away a bit of excess. They did work well on soft PlayDoh and my three year old likes them for that but he also broke one the second time he played with them. The key to using these is a super soft clay and very light pressure when you are using them. I wouldn't buy them again but they are still useful, so I can't say they were a complete waste of money. They also were not labeled Darice on them or the packaging. Usually Darice products have been fine for me and sturdy so this may be the issue. They are okay for smoothing out the surface of your sculpture or for poking a hole with the tip of that angled pointy one and they clean off really easily. Also make good stir sticks for paint or for dragging paint on paper so they aren't useless.

I bought these for use in an elective sculpture course, knowing that I might never need them after the course was over. In that sense, these tools were great because they were inexpensive and thus disposable. However, after having completed 3/4 of my course, I've found myself wishing that I would have gotten some sturdier tools, as this plastic bends quite easily under pressure. While it's very rare that you'll be apply lots of pressure when using these tools (when using them properly, that is), every now and then you need to put some elbow grease in to achieve what you wanted, and these have performed fairly poorly in that regard.

I got this set for my 9 year old daughter to go with her Sculptey clay set. It's a good set and she loves it. I'm a cake decorator and I work with fondant a lot so I find myself using additional sculpting tools when this set doesn't have what I need. So, I think it's perfect for a beginner artist but if you are experienced at sculpting you'll want something with more tools. This is absolutely perfect for my 9 year old though.

I bought these for my nephew to use to “cut” his clay & play dough creations. He was very excited to use them, & his mom was happy he could be creative safely!

I bought a huge amount of clay to make projects with the kids. But I didn't want to use any of my good silverware or even plastic silverware that's really sharp. So instead I bought these I love that they're not sharp but they still do cut through the Clay my four-year-old and my eight-year-old both use them fine.

while I wish a bit more variety in the tools, they are sturdy and work well.

We had a blast using all the different tools on our clay projects. The kids absolutely learned a lot making their projects with depth and texture. When we baked them the details really stood out! A must have when doing cookies!

These tools are pretty delicate. They will allow you to add detail and smoothness to your piece, but you must you use them in a delicate manner, or, as the other reviews state, they will easily break. I would not recommended them for kids. Additionally, you may get better use from similarly shaped wooden tools.On the plus side, I am able to get a smoothness with shine from these tools that I cannot achieve with wooden tools. It is the thing I like best about them.

Too early to write a review. It's a Christmas present.

Kind of flimsy. They are usable but not at all durable. For a soft clay would work great.
