I bought one of these 2 days ago and it only works when it's halfway into my focusrite solo scarlett gen 3 interface. is this normal?

I have a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Gen 3 interface. Basically the 1/4" male jack works perfectly for me, but there is a minor problem with the female 1/8". I've noticed that you have to push your 1/8" male jack into the female with some force so it's flush/fully connected. After that you'll have to pull the 1/8" male away from the 1/8" female just a slight bit for it to work perfectly. So basically it works perfect with an interface but the 1/8' jack just needs a little adjusting. You'll have to play some audio during the adjustment so you'll know.

Can it be used to connect headphones to audio interface

Would this work if I plugged it into my headphones to connect to a microphone?

This will work on virtually any device with an old 1/4" plug that you are trying to reduce to 3.5 mm. I actually connected a set of old earphones to my AT2020+ mic and it worked fine. One problem: it's about 3" and heavy when assembled. A new device with 3.5 mm connection can be damaged if not careful. For a mic connection I recommend buying a new high quality set of earphones with a 3.5 mm connector.
