Book condition listed as "very good," but it wasn't very good.
"Very good condition, wear from reading. Pages are intact and are not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged but may have spine creases from reading."This book should have been listed as "fair." Almost every page has a rip and most have tape on them. One page is separating from the spine. The book lays flat and so the spine has more than just creases. There were even a couple of pages that had been stuck together and then separated and some of the picture was peeled of the one side and stuck to the other. The story is fun, and I can get my kids laughing depending on how I read it. The book it self wasn't as presented.

Missed opportunity
This book seems like it is going to teach kids that roaring looses friendships and they need to learn to not scare potential friends away, but in the end, the book only taught kids to just find people who like to roar too and roar together - so overall this book was a missed opportunity. At first, I did get tongue tied for a few readings and some words seems off the rhythm. Also, the flamingos did not seem very pink to me - I think there is a bit of orange to them making the color more light orange or coral. Not a big deal as its closer to the real color of flamingos, but it just confused me in my first reading. Overall, the roaring is fun, but I really wish this book had taught about roaring at the wrong people in the wrong times loses friends and that talking nicely would make more friends.

Best counting and color book
I just received this book yesterday and was blown away by how wonderful it is. I guess I was expecting just another counting book. This has all the elements I was looking for. There are large numbers in the text in the same color as the animal is counting. This is just perfect for introducing numbers, colors, and even feelings. The text rhymes so it is fun to read but the rhyme is not so singsong that you feel like you need to sing it. It can be read naturally. The counting doesn't seem forced and is really just part of the story. I love that at the end of the story on a two-page spread you see all of the animals the lion cub has been attempting to play with so you can spend time spying and then counting the 4 blue lizards, etc. I highly recommend this book. Belongs in every toddler's library.

Engaging
I teach children who are 2 1/2 - 3 1/2. They ask me to read this to them again and again.

Pages were ripped and the binding was even coming undone! Not expecting it to be that bad.
Pre-K teacher, purchased for class of 4/5 year olds. After taping several pages and the binding, I was able to read it to them. It wasn't one that I could leave out for them to handle though.

Beautiful illustrations!
I bought this book for the illustrations and couldn't be more happy with it. My son loves looking at all the animals and counting along with the little lion. It is a cute story, too, but I think the best part is, hands-down, the illustrations.
