After the recent run of swell here in Hawaii, for the first time ever I had to sit out a couple of days because the top of my head was so sunburned. Getting old sucks. However, faced with having to make a choice of looking cool, or not surfing, I made the drop into buying a surf hat. I looked at virtually every surf hat on Amazon, and read almost every review and finally settled on this one, even though it only had one review. I based my purchase on all the other feedback on all the other hats. In nutshell, I'm glad I did. Today was my first surf with it and here are my impressions: Like all surf gear (wetsuits, booties, leashes etc.) it will take time to get used to. It actually created wind resistance when I was dropping in, albeit trade winds were stiff today. Speaking of stiff, one of the best features of this hat is the stiff brim! It never folded down, even after duck diving, and wasn't noticeable at all and did not impede my vision whatsoever. Best of all, while surfing between 11:30am-12:30pm (midday, sun high) my whole face was shaded by the brim. That felt great! One thing I noticed. When duck diving it is best to keep head down, chin tucked in. If you have your chin up, it pulls the hat back. It is also apparent that this hat will come off big surf, but I bought it with midday summer sessions in mind, not big winter swells, so no biggie. last bonus, after a surf, I usually scamper straight from the shore break to my car to get my head and mug out of the sun. Today i actually cruised the beach for a half hour, enjoying the view, with my noggin safely shaded by this hat. I get the feeling I will go through a bunch of these hats over my remaining years of surfing which is fine. I'm still surfing 4-5 days a week at 54 years old, so if having to replace surf hats is a necessary evil, so be it. In andy case, buy this hat, it works fine.

I bought this last year at the beginning of the pandemic since I started working from home and stepping out into my backyard more often during the day. I have a smaller head size so the small/medium size fits perfectly. The included neck gaiter is great, can be detached, and tucked into a small pocket at the top of the hat.IMO that is the best feature. Every wide brim hat like this should do the job, but this one feels very durable and the ability to simply tuck everything into the bucket space of the hat quickly and still wear it with extreme comfort is by far the best quality.Highly recommended.

This is a very well thought out, durable product. I use it to surf and bodyboard, and it stays put most of the time. Keeps lots of sun off my neck and face, which is key because I dont want to lather on so much sunblock. Alleviates the way my eyed would burn from sunblock getting in them. However, its purely functional, meaning not fashionable. Looks a bit like an amish or baby bonnet, but Im 47 years old and dont cafe too much what folks think anymore. Also, the hidden pocket inside is smart.

This is a very nice hat for Paddle boarding and fishing ... but way small! My husband wears a size 7 1/4 hat. First bought a small/med but too small and I ended up keeping it and loving it. He then bought L/XL and that too was too small as well! It was like a kids hat or something .. he returned that one.

S-M size Perfect fit for me. I like the stiff front brim that doesn't collapse when wet. The chin strap is comfortable. I wish they made an XXL size for my husband. He tried the L-XL but had to return it. The chin strap was too short and cap too small for his head.

Game changer for a surfer, who is not supposed to be in the sun. The brim stays put and out of my line of site. I was concerned the strap would irritate me for I don’t like anything around my neck but it doesn’t bother me at all. Additional plus, it keeps your head warm in cold Santa Anna winds and I don’t overheat in the sun.

I bought this to go out in the waves surfskiing. It is the first hat that both protects me from the sun and does not come off if a large wave knocks me into the water. It also stops me from losing my prescription glasses as the glasses loop comes off my head if the hat fails to remain on. I have already lost a couple of pairs using cheaper hats that come off in the breaking surf.

Ordered a XL, I have a medium sized head. This thing was every bit a small. The brim in the rim of the hat was off centered so it had to fit the head crooked. The strap was tight under the chin. Looked more like a bonnet. I did like the detachable neck shade that stored in the hat. If only I could wear it....

Top Hut zum Kitesurfen. Bisschen eng geschnitten wie ich finde. Habe bei Helmen eher größe M. Trotz große L druck der Hut mit der Zeit. Sonst aber echt gut

Ich liebe diesen Hut. Trage ihn im Sommer draußen, im Wasser, beim surfen...Er sitzt perfekt - vielleicht ein kleines bisschen zu eng.
