Platinum Fountain Pen President #1 Black and Gold- PTB20000P-Nib: M

I had learned that the President had been discontinued from production. I was planning to purchase another pen but decided whatever remaining stock would dwindle. The pen was introduced when President Clinton was in office and used it during public signings. I believe Platinum created the pen for him. It is about the size of a Montblanc 146. It has a #6 size nib which is larger than the one of the Platinum 3776. The nib is stiff, even with the 18K gold nib. Platinum nibs have some feedback but are not scratchy. The pens use only Platinum cartridges. The pen also came with a converter so you can use your ink of choice. It is well worth looking for this pen. Get one before they are gone.

A wonderful pen from Platinum. Slightly bigger than the 3776 line but not overly large. Standard cigar shape with a nice Art-Deco style clip. The number 6 size nib writes smooth with a nice amount of feed back. The ink flow is good not overly wet but slightly dry. The medium nib is more like a medium fine for a Japanese nib, or closer to a western fine. The nib is a bit stiff, but you can get some line variation. On another note, for a pen of this size it would have been nice for an internal piston filling system of some sort. The converters hold a decent amount of ink but I find myself filling it often. All-in-All this is a great pen for the money.

The 18K nib is very smooth. The lacquer on the material is well applied and the resin is very smooth. It is a great bargain at the closing out price offered by Platinum.

Platinum retired this pen, so I was amazed I could still get it on Amazon. This used to be a flagship pen. I was amazed I could get it for just over $100 while the one they sell as it's replacement is about three times the price. It's a cartridge converter which means it's fairly easy to clean. It is a very nice writer. I'm glad I bought it.

Purchased a Medium and a Fine nib at Platinum President at the same time. Both nibs skipped horribly out of the box. This was my first Platinum purchase and I am hesitant to try another pen after this experience. I will stick with my Sailor's and my Pilot's for now.

the pen arrives as expected. The nib size close to Japanese Medium-fine (western fine). The nib is very smooth. The feed is right at the center under the nib, an issue that most President pen may have lopsided feed under the nib. This pen is well balanced, especially when the cap is posted. The pen is very light and perfect for daily use.

This a great 5/5 pen that is discontinued so I was glad to get one. Unfortunately like most products sold by Re-Redistributors, you are gambling on whether you will get a NEW item or a RETURNED item. Like many of these packages that are not sealed from Manufacturer you have to be diligent. I got a Used Returned Item that came dirty and scratched. Fortunately AMAZON has a good Return policy on PRIME items sold. Though this seems to be a recurring theme with many of the products sold here including pens, watches, and even inks (go figure). I also purchased another PLATINUM President (Black/Gold Trim) with a Different Nib [Extra.Fine] size from a British pen store and that one did arrive with all it's original packaging in flawless condition and spotless. I will still keep this one though since it seems to be working fine and it truly is a wonderful pen.

The platinum president is a subtle, classy, cigar shaped pen that comes in a bit bigger overall than the more well known platinum 3776. I like the smoothness and generous line width of the 18k M nib I ordered. Converter and 1 ink cart included.

The Platinum President is a very good looking pen. I didn't ink it - although someone before me had - but given it's a Platinum I have no reason to doubt the smoothness of the nib. Judging from its name I was expecting a larger pen. Typically Japanese pens seem to be designed for slightly smaller hands and I thought a larger Japanese pen might suit me. But the President is actually not much larger than the excellent Platinum Century 3776. A much bigger price for a not much bigger pen? I couldn't justify it, but you may think otherwise.

Il est très équilibré dans son usage dans la main. Ecriture agréable, bonne glisse. Un beau stylo, une belle plume, une belle écriture, quoi de plus ?

定価二万円の国産万年筆は実用面でとても優れたものが揃っている。パイロットのカスタム742、セーラーのプロフィット21、そしてこのプラチナのプレジデントである。 万年筆の使い心地を左右する要素にボディのバランス、紙の感触を伝えるニブの作り、ペンポイントの研ぎなどがあるが、上記のペンはより高価格帯に属するものに勝るとも劣らない力を有する。 私なりの印象を述べると カスタム742 三つの中では一番しなりが強く、インクの出も多い。またペンポイントは字幅に対してやや小振りに作られている。そのため弾むようなタッチでサラサラと筆記ができる反面、インクが乗りすぎて文字が潰れやすい欠点を持つ。キャップを軸の後端に挿すとややリアウエイトになるが、バランスはそれほど悪くない。軸径は三つの中では一番細いものの、安定して書ける太さなので問題なし。 プロフィット21 紙あたりがソフト。だがペン先が柔いということではなく、芯がありつつも筆記のノイズを消してくれるサスペンションを秘めているといった感じ。ペンポイントの大きさ、研ぎ、インクの出の塩梅が良いので、滑らかにペンが走り、かつ文字の抑揚も表現しやすい。キャップをポストした時のボディバランスはこれまで持った万年筆の中でもトップクラス。軸も太くて良い。 プレジデント 硬めのペン先。その分速書きで筆圧が上がっても安心感がある。またペンポイントの研ぎが優秀でインクの継ぎも良好なので少々捻って書いても掠れることなくついてくる。インクの出自体は調節されていて比較的シャープな線を引けるので文字は潰れない。軸は太く、キャップを差した時のバランスも良好。また三つの中では唯一ニブがバイカラーなのも良い。 といった具合だろうか。 三者それぞれに特徴があり、どれを選んでも失敗はないのであとは個人の好みや気分の問題である。 プラチナはどうしても3776の印象が強い（特にセンチュリー発売以降拍車がかかった）し、先に挙げた同価格帯の他社製品と比べてみてもプレジデントの影は薄い。しかし、このペンの完成度は3776がかすむほどの良く、プラチナのフラッグシップモデルとしてもっと多くの人に愛されるべき名品だと使ってみて実感した。 硬目の安定した書き味を求めている方には是非お勧めしたい。
