Fr. Gallagher has written a must-read for anyone new to Liturgy of the Hours or considering it as the foundation of their prayer life. The book is imminently readable and provides encouragement to pray the hours, a detailed breakdown of the parts of the prayer, its history, and above all how it unites us to each other as the Church and to Christ. I received the book today and am halfway through already. It has put a new perspective on the hours for me. I can’t recommend this book highly enough!

I have been doing parts of the Liturgy of the Hours with Sing the Hours. This book is helping me understand it all better and appreciate what God has provided for us.

Still reading the book

An informative book and a good starting point to better understand the Liturgy of the Hours. I enjoyed the background on how praying the LOTH came to be, also the more practical aspects of application. Fr. Gallagher provided more than enough information to get me started and also added resources for deeper study. I walked away with a far better understanding and deeper appreciation of the LOTH.

In my journey to a deeper relationship with God. I found father Gallagher book insightful and easy to understand. He provides a lot of information on how to start and where to find resources.

A must read for those starting to pray the liturgy of the hours.

I can’t recommend this book enough. Fr. Gallagher never disappoints in his writing. The deliberateness of his language and choice of words in writing is always compelling. This is so evident to me in this book on the LOH. I’ve come to a fuller understanding of this prayer and am encouraged to continue to have the LOH be a part of my daily life with greater consistency. There are recommendations for further reading in this book that I will certainly follow through on. As always, thank you Fr. Gallagher!

Though the book is expensive on Amazon, MRP on book shows $ 14.95 ( Rs.1239) cost on Amazon is more. However this book is very nice, this is written in a simple format which encourages a lay person to read without feeling tired. As a lay person I enjoyed it and at the same time acquired so much of knowledge on how to get the maximum spiritual benefit which is treasured in the "Liturgy of the hours" God Bless the Author and the publisher of this wonderful book.

It was amazing to read testimonies of moms and dads like me who are still able to pray the Liturgy of the Hours. It gave me permission not only to pray them, but to pray as much as I am able as a father to a young daughter and another on the way. For example, I now listen to Evening Prayer on my commute home after work with the Divine Office app. Fr Gallagher painted a beautiful picture of this liturgical prayer and his own stories at times brought me to tears of consolation. This book has resurrected an old prayer habit of the Liturgy of the Hours and I am very grateful.

Good for everyone - not just priests!

Very informative book

I'd been praying the Daily Prayer from Divine Office (Collins: It's TLOH without the Office of Reading) for 6 months when I read this book. I am glad I did, for it made my prayer life even richer. After reading, I bought the full 3 volume set of Divine Office. This book is certainly encouraging.
