I think the PM version has niacinimide in it, vs the CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion which doesn't have that. You may want to check the CeraVe website at http://www.cerave.com for ingredients in each item.

Why is this only for night? What moisturizer should I use for daytime?

This same very one is actually perfect to use as a great daytime moisturizer. I have been using it daily since my dermatologist told me about it three years ago when I asked her what she recommended , as I always wear an effective separate sunscreen with zinc oxide, Chanel CC. It’s not heavy at all and my skin feels and stays moisturized all day. If I get ready to go outside later in the day this is an ideal product to reapply a tiny bit to add creaminess to the CC.
