I’ve been using Clairol Natural Instincts for many years, and it has remained one of my favorite at-home hair colors. One of the biggest reasons I continue buying it is that it doesn’t leave my hair feeling dry, damaged, or weighed down after coloring. My hair stays soft and healthy-looking, which is something I really value. I do have gray hair, and while this demi-permanent color doesn’t provide 100% gray coverage, it does a great job of blending my grays so they are much less noticeable. For me, it creates a more natural look instead of a harsh line of regrowth as the color fades. If you’re looking for complete gray coverage, you may want to consider a permanent dye instead. However, if your goal is healthier-looking hair with softer, more natural gray blending, I think this is an excellent option.

Good product. Works well dye lasts several weeks.

I’ve used this once. I think the color is good but has washed out a bit. I previously had some red in my hair and it still shows through especially in the sunlight. I will say I feel like it was a minimally invasive “box hair dye” that was not harsh on my hair or caused any damage!

My favorite. I buy 3 pack now. No damage to hair. No smell, just conditioner color that lasts a month or more. Customer for life!

I’ve been using this for over five years now, and it’s honestly the only one I reach for. It’s very DIY-friendly and easy to apply at home, even if you’re not experienced with coloring your own hair. What I appreciate most is that it doesn’t leave my hair feeling dry or damaged afterward — my hair still feels soft and healthy. The color comes out natural looking and consistent each time. I haven’t felt the need to switch brands because it’s been reliable and gentle on my hair.

I’m not one for writing reviews but always rely on the reviews of others when I’m doing research on a product or service 😂 This time I just had to review this product! Background on me, I am an African American female in her 40’s and have natural hair that’s about half way down my back. I use heat no more than once a year and only use a wide tooth comb on bith mine and my daughter’s hair. So, I am very particular about my hair 😊 I was so afraid to color my hair on my own, but did research and decided to try this in black. I had previously had my hair colored about 5 months ago with permanent color and the individual was so super rough with my hair that I didn’t want to even let her touch up my color. Let me tell you, this product covered EVERY SINGLE GREY HAIR! And, I heard the temple area is the hardest to color. My hair was so soft and I have lots of hair and only used one box, but I would still order two just in case. I only touched up my edges in the front temple area and along where I wear my part. I’m so serious and I’m not paid at all for this review. Please give this a try. I did follow the directions verbatim except I shampooed my hair the same day. I rinsed the color out with slightly cool water in the shower and once the water ran clear, I commenced to shampoo with Shea Moisture for kids carrot and mango shampoo, which I’ve used for several years now on mine and my daughter’s hair and we both love it. I used the conditioner that came with the color also to deep condition my hair and used my normal TGIN Green Tea leave in as my styler along with Shea Moisture curl foam and flaxseed Eco styler gel. I also had no allergic reactions and I have very sensitive skin. I did not do a allergy test prior to using the color, though I would recommend doing that. Basically, this color is amazing, it didn’t blend the greys, they are completely gone.

Very good hair dye

If you have short hair, I wouldn't recommend this hair dye. Once opened, it needs to be used entirely because leftover dye oxidizes and becomes much less effective for future use. For those with short hair, I suggest trying Japanese hair dyes designed for multiple applications instead.

I love this product because has natural components. Has no ammonia nor other harsh ingredients. And keeps my hair soft and doesn't damage it, and is long lasting.
