American dental care is horrible but this helps pain!
If you live in America.. you know how horrible and outrageously expensive our dental care is. This product COMPLETELY stops the nerve pain from dislodged fillings once it’s in. I use this with two teeth currently. One tooth started hurting about 3 years ago a few weeks after the filling first fell out. It was such excruciating pain…like the worst pain I’ve ever felt. I couldn’t sleep or eat and at that time, couldn’t afford a dentist. I was desperate and tried this product. I honestly didn’t think it would work. It calmed my tooth pain within minutes. The throbbing subsided and eventually stopped altogether. That tooth is still very sensitive and sometimes eating on it can hurt, but that’s better than the electric throbbing I was feeling. It probably needs a root canal which will cost $2500 that I don’t have the luxury of spending. It’s seriously so sad most of us here are getting this product because we can’t afford to get the treatment we need. We need to band together and stop letting dentists scam us. Just take it from me, if you’re in pain buy this. Leave it in for 2-3 days, then get a metal toothpick and take the old temp filling out, disinfect the tooth with antibacterial mouthwash, and put in a new one. This is the only thing that will stop your exposed nerves from hurting.

don't waste your money
I bought this because half of my molar on my lower right side just broke and I don't have insurance or money to fix it right now. I read the reviews and thought, surely this would hold until I get my check. So I get my product the next day, and I follow the instructions exactly. This is where things get tricky. It says to scoop some out, roll it in a ball and put it in the hole or spot where the tooth is missing, right? BUT, this mess is sticky AF and rolling it around just made a mess. I tried but I ended up just putting some on my finger, and pressing it into the missing tooth area. It just would not stay. I tried and tried. I finally got some and rubbed it off into the tooth, and left it alone to dry. I didn't eat anything or drink anything for hours. It seemed to be in there good, right? After about 5 hours I decided to eat something. Yep, this crap fell right out and I ended up swallowing it. So I tried again, and this time I put it in before bed, and didn't eat or drink anything the entire night. I went to bed at about midnight, and I just ate for the first time, at 11am. That is 11 hours that it had to dry. Then, I decided to eat something, a sandwich, pretty soft and easy. Just some ham and cheese on white bread. This doggone thing popped out my tooth AGAIN. I am fed up. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!

Good if is not dried out.
How to use this and this is for the pre-mixed variety. It isnt meant to glue anything back on it's purpose is to plug a hole. How to apply? Scoop out and lick the fingers you will handle this with. That way you can roll it and apply it w/out it sticking to the fingers. Place it in the indentation in the tooth. Lick fingers again and press gently and hold. You dont want too much or it will be knocked loose. I've never had an issue until now and this was with my last order of a couple weeks ago. The expiration is one year away but the putty is dried out and unuseable. I hope this isnt a change in product or quality control. I'm reordering and will see what I get.

Works for a short term fix
I bought this to replace a filling that fell out after my last cleaning. The tooth is scheduled to be crowned later this month so I needed something to get me thru the two week gap until then. The thing is the filling I am replacing is/was huge. I mean the size of a pencil eraser...even a little bigger. Initially there was half a pocket for the material to cling too a little but the side that was left broke off so now there is just the roots of the tooth, which is a molar, with a little bit of tooth edge but not much. So this is really not a typical lost filling scenario. That said, it took a little trial and error to come up with the best way to handle my situation. In the end what works best is to use a small ball and pressed it into the top of what is left of the tooth. Pressing it down a few times to get out any pockets too seems to help - the more contact it has with the tooth the better. I found out pretty quick it takes some time to dry before you can really chew on it. I recommend you apply it before bed so it has the entire night to harden. It definitely works a lot better if it has longer to cure. It still only last about a day or so before it crumbles and needs to be replaced. Too be fair though, my situation is a bit extreme. If you are just replacing a normal size filling it should stay in place a lot longer than is has for me. In the end it gets the job done and is holding me over until I can see my dentist. Thankfully it is not expensive and you get a lot for the money...which comes in handy in a situation like mine.

If your carful. This saves you lots of $
So far so good. I've had a cavity sence before my teen years. Just recently half of one of those cavities fell out?! PMO ! The Dentist wanted $1200 to pull my moler, bla bla bla, yea right.. nada. I started cleaning the vacant hole in my tooth with kitchen sink spray nozzle then drops of antiseptic. Then Tucking/packing a piece of plastic sandwich wrap! worked good for weeks. Sometimes at the bottom of the hole/cavity the nerve can get irritated? via pull out , sterilize, repack. I told that story you just read above to a friend and he told me about (Dempent) . I have Amazon prime. There it is the next day on my porch. I'm still getting use to ... Ignoring what the dentist "recommended " and "navigating" this on my own. Luckly this molar is on the bottom and in the middle/front ...more. Advice=have a dental "pick" very helpful . last bit of advice. When the product lable says , after you insert a little bit in hole bite down to "form It". Dont "Pack" because it could press on the nerve down below and be irritating. So far so good. I also have a "wider" gap in-between two molars that I was sick and tired of using dental string to get the food out ;( Not any more!

Excellent product for amazing price!
I had to get this as emergency fix for a cracked tooth! Couldn’t get to my dentist until the next week! Ouch... it came literally the next morning! It was so easy to use/apply. And the adhesion, so quick, and smooth. I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to do it myself or if it would work. But, it definitely did the job and THEN some. I won’t lie, the taste isn’t that great when applying, but least mistakes you make... the less chalky/clay like it tastes lol. It dries SO quickly too. I definitely recommend if you need a quick fix. After a few hours (I waited extra time in case) I ate, drank, talked... like my tooth never had an issue. And it was completely dry, so nothing chipped the mold or dislodged it.

Do not recommend the pre-mixed version!
I'm updating a previous review, which you'll find below -- unfortunately knocking this specific product down from 5 to 2 stars ... what you need to understand is there are (at least) two versions of this product. One, in which you mix the cement yourself, which I describe below -- and the other where the cement is pre-mixed in a tiny container. The latter is what I bought most recently, to replenish my Dentemp supply -- however the former is what I originally reviewed -- when I didn't realize there were two different formulations. So I had cemented a crown back in place with the manually mixed cement and it did better than I expected, lasting 9 days with pretty much regular eating/chewing habits. When it came loose yesterday, I broke out the new package of Dentemp and tried the pre-mixed cement. Well, it was a total fail. The "cement" has the consistency of chewing gum just removed from your mouth and is very difficult to work with. I tried several times to re-cement the crown but each time the cement left the tooth sitting too high, preventing a normal bite. Fortunately I had one more pack of the old stuff, so this time I did NOT use the entire envelope of powder as instructed, but just a small amount. Then I added a few drops of the liquid and mixed to a slurry type consistency as before. This did the trick, and I hope to get another week or so out of this, as my dentist is closed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. ORIGINAL REVIEW HERE: What I'm actually reviewing here is a package of Dentemp I had in my first aid kit at home for, I dunno, maybe 10 years. Have always been curious if the stuff ever worked. Well, along comes COVID-19 and in the midst of the pandemic, and on a Saturday night, one of my crowns pops off while flossing ... so I'm like: It's GO TIME, Dentemp, let's see whatcha got!!! I honestly had no idea what would even be inside the package. Well, there's an envelope of powder labeled zinc oxide, a tiny tube of brown liquid called somethingorother, a little plastic tub and a little wooden stick. You put the powder in the tub, followed by the liquid, then mix them with the stick until formed into a light brown paste. Apply the paste to the underside of the crown and stick the thing back in place. Easy peasy. Says it takes about an hour to fully set. My only complaint at this stage was that the ratio of powder to liquid was off -- too much powder -- but no big deal. Once the paste started to form I just dumped out the excess powder. It makes PLENTY of cement, enough to fix half a dozen crowns probably. That being said, I was delighted to see that Dentemp has changed its formulation to a pre-mixed cement -- as long as it holds as well as the old stuff ... Did not venture to brush that night, just swished my mouth with some Closys mouthwash ... Next morning I ate French toast for breakfast, and tried to eat softer foods the rest of the day. No problem. It's now the following Tuesday and I've had no problems whatsoever. Able to eat whatever I want, just taking a little extra care to avoid chewing anything crunchy or tough on that side. Good thing too, because looks like my dentist's office may be closed for the next few weeks at least. I did talk to him on the phone incidentally, and he said he was familiar with the product and saw no problem leaving it in for an extended period of time, if needed. Anyway, so I ordered a few more packs of Dentemp just in case I need them, either sooner or later. Probably one of the best $5 or whatever I ever spent, those years ago.
