It depends on the diameter (i.e., trunk width at 1 ft from grade) of the trees.  If 1-2 inches, then plan on 2 spikes per tree.  Above 2 inches, its basically 1 spike per inch diameter.

Your maple needs iron like someone else posted. So no, this product is not enough because you need the IRON!

is this Spike for Dogwood Trees?

I do not know about dogwood trees.  I have used this spike on my Hickory tree, Ash tree, Maple tree and Spruce tree.  They have all done well. Grew larger with many leaves.  I am not a 'gardener' but person who uses fertilizer on my lawn, shrubs, flowers and trees.  Dogwood is a deciduous tree and I would think that these spikes would not harm it -- as I have used it with my deciduous trees.
