Mayfair Natural Oak Veneer Toilet Seat with Chrome Hinges, Round, Wood

Gives a real wood feel, and comfortable to sit on. Installation was very easy. The natural finish compliments many design choices. I will say that as it gives the feeling of wood, it is porous so cleaning needs to be a bit more thorough. Otherwise a great buy for the money.

Solid toilet seat, as far as toilet seats go. When your girlfriend asks you to find a toilet seat that matches the wood grain aesthetic of your hard wood floors in another room, this my friends, is your answer. Easy to install? Yes. It’s a toilet seat, it screws in... to the pre-made toilet holes. If you have trouble with that, I don’t know how to help you. Easy to clean? Yes. It’s a toilet seat.. spray it, wipe it, move on to the next big adventure in your life. Sturdy? Subjective... I give it a 3/5 sturdiness. To be honest, this is my second time purchasing the same seat (feels so nice, I bought it twice, amirite?). First one would come loose occasionally, have to tighten the screws, and eventually the plastic barrier piece that keeps it elevated above the bowl eventually broke. Kind of like a pizza box table thing. In defense of this Iconic wood grain butt-buffer, I’m a 240 lb dude and my girlfriend blames me and my thunderous thighs and forceful decent for the breakage. All in all, this does what it’s meant to to, be a toilet seat.

I purchased this as a budget replacement, expecting something basic. It turned out to be far better than typical plastic seats. The first thing I noticed was the weight. It’s noticeably heavier and feels solid when lifting or lowering it. Once installed, there’s no shifting or side-to-side movement. The chrome hinges tighten securely and haven’t needed readjustment. The natural oak veneer looks warm and clean — much nicer than glossy plastic. It also feels warmer to the touch than plastic seats. However, it did feel slightly under-sealed to me. It wasn’t rough or unfinished, just not fully protected. I applied a clear protective finish myself, which was quick to do and adds extra durability for moisture and heavy use. We’re a family of six, and after several weeks of daily use, it’s holding up extremely well — no loosening, cracking, or finish issues. For the price, this is a strong value. I’m ordering another to keep as a backup. Be sure to measure and confirm you need an elongated seat before ordering.

UPDATE #2 DO NOT BUY!! After 2 months the seat has turned a very dark brown, no longer matches the color of the lid and looks horrible. Threw it away, total waste of money. P.S. No chemicals were ever used to clean the seat! Last picture is the seat before it was thrown away. UPDATE; After 21 days of use it is beginning to darken in color on both sides. Still have not had to adjust for the minor slipping so that's great but the discoloration is ugly. (2nd 2 pictures) Shockingly smooth. It took a few days to get used to the feel of it because it's really really smooth. It actually fit my elongated toilet and it fits perfectly. I have an attached Bidet and the seat fit very well with the Bidet, still lowers to the toilet properly. Easy to install and looks nice. It does have a little slipping going on, haven't found a seat that doesn't slip so I didn't dock any stars for that. It's been in use for a couple weeks and although beginning to slide to the side I haven't yet tightened up the screws so it's not as bad of slippage as I was going through. I'm not sure how well the veneer is going to hold up over time based on the underside edge finish but will update this feedback if it does start to peel/break.

My old Mayfair seat had broken after at least 16+ years. Thankfully, I was able to find the exact same seat and it was delivered a few days later. It took my son about 5 minutes to install it. I find wood seats to be much more comfortable and they don't get cold like plastic. I'm sure it will be at least 16 years before I have to worry about replacing this one.

The seat itself is solid, however much darker than the expected/displayed oak color that would have matched my oak vanity, etc. The bigger issue is that there is only one set of rubber bumpers under the seat vs 2 sets. The 'bumpers' are at the underneath, front of the bottom piece, whereas almost all brands of seats have two sets of these bumpers to allow for appropriate distribution of weight. Therefore, the bumpers deteriorate quickly, and the seat is a bit unstable.

Nice wood, but metal fixing hinge snapped after 5 months. Not happy.

Despite the claims on the website, this toilet seat has no facility to adjust to different mounting hole configurations. Unless your loo has a 14cm spacing -- which is rather uncommon in the UK -- this seat won't work for you. To make things worse we found that returning the seat meant that Amazon had to ship it all the way from Bristol, UK to Indianapolis, US. Not only did we waste several hours installing and uninstalling this product but we had to travel miles to a UPS pickup point to return it AND we contributed massively to global warming too. Avoid!
