My husband and I installed 3 of these shades on our porch to block the sun in the early morning and early evening. I chose the beige color, hoping the light would pass thru while the shade would block the direct sun and heat. So far, we are very happy with these shades!Some of the reviews I read said the rods were difficult or impossible to assemble. I struggled with trying to make them fit together, too, until my husband put them on a large flat surface, and we sprayed the ends of the rods with WD-40. Once we were able to get them started, they went together fairly easily, but the fine threads were a challenge. I understand they need to be fine to be strong enough to do the job, and the rods are nice and strong once they are screwed together.Some of the directions could be clearer.Overall, this is a nice, reasonably priced, product, and if they last the way they should, we should get many years of shade from them.Be aware that the breeze does not pass thru them, and we were glad that we ordered the 6-foot size to hang in 8-foot areas, so breezes could easily pass thru on the ends.

I read a lot of reviews before purchasing these. The main reason I bought them is because they had hard to find standard sizes that fit our screen porch. The reviews were good and the price was excellent. That being said, there were a few issues regarding installation. 1. The screws for the pulleys were small and for our situation made it hard to drill. A larger screw head with a flat back would have been better. 2. The pipes were hard to fit together due to the powder coating. I had to sand off the coating in order to fit them together, and even then, with difficulty. 3. The cord stringing instructions were difficult and it took several times reading the printed instructions and watching the online video to get it right. Once installed, they are quite wrinkled, but I'm hoping that over time with humidity they'll straighten out. They're also a bit difficult to roll up straight to look nice. On the positive side, they provide great sun protection. Our west facing screen porch becomes a scorcher in the late afternoon, and these help tremendously. The beige color is more of a wheat color...more yellowish which worked for us, but maybe not for someone else. The wide range of sizes, the price and the sun protection outweigh the difficulties for us. We'll enjoy them!

OH NO – had to back out the screws and start over! The gentle breeze was pulling the roller hangers off these bugle headed (WRONG TYPE) screw heads, so had to supply brass washers to screw hardware down tight. UGHNow the EZ part of stringing right? WRONG! Because there was no thought nor consideration for the poor sap unraveling what soon becomes a fishermans' birdsnest, this line was NOT on a spool to sidetrack another 1/4hr of time you'll never get back and never enjoy.This is where the instructions finally fell in step with the reputation the rest of this mess has begun. Bet 75% of you will have to restring a 2nd time when following these how-tos. UGHHas anyone fallen off their ladder yet?Anyone begin sweet “talking” the country of manufacture?OK, finally it's up, rolling up-down and there's not a thought of prolonging The End with tie downs, cord stops, et al. It must be 5pm somewhere. Some sort of award, refreshment, massage, etc. should be awaiting the poor soul that was tricked into all this cruelty.Anyone smart enough to produce a USA competitive non-corrosive product, fully assembled, hanging screw/hooks options, with little need for instructions, even if a long box required … should make a million and put these guys out of biz ….. PLEASE

I don’t write reviews very often. But I have to say we love these shade blinds. They work very easily. I had to order numerous different sizes to fit our porch windows. Each one had everything needed in the box and was in good condition. Putting them together & hanging them was a lot of work. So be prepared to spend some time on this. My husband, my parents and I all worked solid for 3 hours to get the 6 hung. The instructions made sense which was helpful. But it was still a big chore. Totally worth it to the shade on our screened porch.

This product is for exterior/outside use - so that is the context for my comments. The quality is "ehhh". Some of the hardware is not stainless (so it's gonna rust). And the shades are pretty thin material - any high winds (and I'm not talking hurricanes) are going to damage them. The instructions say to take them down on windy days...huh? You're gonna get outside with screwdrivers and unscrew all the brackets on a windy day? Really? I'm expecting these to last maybe two seasons with luck and extra care. Finally, keep in mind you're going to have 6+ feet of that cord to wind up when you lift the shades - far more than fits on the supplied hook. All that extra rope is conveniently not shown in the pictures because it looks sloppy.That being said, if you can follow instructions you can install them - I didn't have the difficulties other reviews complained about. And once up they work. Just have realistic expectations on quality.
