How thick is the cardboard

While the visual thickness is that of a regular cardboard box, we use a type of paper and corrugation that makes it stronger.

Is the material safe for chewers?

Yes. The cardboard is safe and digestible. However, if you find your bunny doesn't spit it out (usually bunnies make cardboard confetti out of it) and instead likes to eat it, then you'd want to watch carefully to make sure your bunny is still eating their hay, greens and feed. If a bunny fills up on cardboard, the cardboard itself isn't toxic, but your bunny may forgo hay, and other foods that are high in fiber - and needed for digestion. If your bunny still continues to eat their hay, greens etc, then that's fine.

Sturdy cardboard, but safe to chew.

is this okay for large bunnies?

This is good for bunnies up to 9lbs -- it can hold heavier, but the holes may not be big enough for Big Bunny Bums. :) Like Flemish Giants or German Lops. If you have a large bunny like that, you might want to try the Tunnel Haven instead.
