Does these plunger hollow in the middle?

Ive added a picture of the inserter found in this package. These are the solid style used for removal only. They are NOT hollow in the middle.

how long should i change one?one month?or 3 months?

They do not last forever. I have been using DMV lens removers 35 years. I can't remember when I bought my last set, maybe 2010. Rubber deteriorates over time. I soak mine in a cup of water and 2 drops of liquid hand soap for a couple of hours once a week.
