Noritake Crestwood Cobalt Platinum 5-Piece Place Setting

I'm a single guy who decided to purchase a china set, and I wanted something strong, masculine, and elegant. So, I wasn't going to be buying something with flowers on it like those sets from the mid-1980s. The Crestwood Cobalt Platinum completely met my requirements. The dark blue cobalt stripe is wide, making a strong visual statement while providing a nice contrast to the platinum band around the edge. I purchased a 20-piece set (service for four) initially, then supplemented it with two additional place settings as shown here. I also considered the Crestwood Platinum set, but the cobalt stripe is very striking and makes the masculine statement I want, both for display and in actual use. The pieces are light and strong, though not as light as my everyday Corelle dishes. The pieces can be either hand washed or machine washed, but avoid lemon based soaps, which can discolor the platinum. As with any dish with metal, the dishes cannot be used in a microwave oven. If you're looking for a place setting, this is a great choice-it looks expensive and elegant, it has a timeless look, and it has a look that will appeal to men as well as women. It is a more expensive choice than the plain Crestwood Platinum alternative without the cobalt band, so if cost is a deciding factor, I would recommend that option, but if you want good heirloom china with strong visual appeal and can afford the bump in price, go for this design and these place settings. Not only does it look great on display, but it makes any special dinner more elegant. A perfect choice as a wedding gift registry, as people can simply purchase a single place setting instead of a whole set.

Each piece of this set is gorgeous and well-made. In a review on the 4-place settings set of this china, a customer claimed the "paint" was running and that most of the set had to be returned. That made me a little nervous but since Noritake has a good reputation, I ignored the review. Now that I've had the china a while, I find that persons review difficult to believe. Every guest who's seen this china loves it. Everything is well-balanced and the colors are vibrant. The medal edges are smooth and flawlessly placed. I've been buying the other pieces of the collection.

We needed extras of our wedding china, which is this pattern, for a larger-than-usual Thanksgiving this year, so we ordered more. I love this china set so much -- it's classy, elegant, and beautiful... AND you can put it in the dishwasher, even with heated dry settings and super hot water. (I tested this by putting one of the saucers from this set in my dishwasher and keeping it there for six months straight, through every single wash cycle, and it still looks good as new; I can't distinguish it from the others!)

Beautiful set. I bought to complete my son and his bride’s registry, however, they arrived with a plate broken. The newlyweds were able to get credit for the set after shipping it back.

I have two sets already and i wanted a set of four. I waited to find one on sale, and that is what i did. It is perfect just the way i wanted them. The whole experience was perfect. It came on time and this completes my wedding China set. I love them the are gorgeous.

I've purchased a few place settings of this china and it's very beautiful in person. The cobalt blue and silver is very elegant, and the swirl/wave design on the silver makes it unique. I'll be collecting the whole set. Amazon has great prices and the shipping is faster than expected.

These are not the real deal. They appear similar, but are just copies. Hence the super cheap price. Good news is that I have a few sets for the kids, I don't care if these break. I have 12 sets of the real version of this china and I've never let the kids touch any of it. They won't know the difference and now the real stuff is safe from little hands but they can still eat like the adults at Christmas!
