The finish is plastic-y feeling. Though its hard to tell in the picture, the top is not all one level surface, there is a frame that runs around the outside and down the middle that is raised about a 1/2" from the rest of the surface. One of the chests had a crack across the front face, basically breaking the support for the top drawer. We had to fix that. The drawers were closed, shipped with no hardware on them (normal), but because of the way the chest was built, we had a heck of a time getting them open to get to the hardware to finish putting it together. The hardware was sub-par. One of the screws for the handle broke off inside the drawer without being able to attach the handle. We had to drill it out and find another bolt. Because we live so far from a big town, I order many pieces of furniture online. This was one of the worst I've bought, and even though I don't like posting negative reviews, I think this is a huge "buyer beware" situation. Don't waste your time and money like I wasted mine.

Love this high quality nightstand!!

I purchased two of these and one the top was broken upon arrival. The other one is not sturdy what so ever and the handle already broke after a day of use. I guess I should have read the reviews. I'm very sad because they do look great but the quality is definitely not worth the 261 price tag

The top of this night stand feels as if you will get a splinter. So rough you can’t put a cup on top. The drawers are not sturdy and feel like they will fall out.

We bought 2 of these. The first one had the bottom 2 drawer tracks broken and bent. The second one had the wooden piece under the 2nd drawer broken which bent the track. The only reaso we are keeping them is because my husband can fix them. Hoping our bed and dresser arrive in better condition.

Drawers do not fit squarely within the frame. Poor construction. Disappointed.
