Wow... what a difference.
I've put almost 2000 miles on my Giant Escape 2 over the past 4 years, and nearly 1500 of them in the past 4 months. It was like being gas-lighted. I could tell the brakes were getting worse, but it happened so slowly that I just lived with it. One day the rear brake pads started making a grinding sound, and after a quick investigation I discovered it had worn down to the metal. Oops. So, I found this nice pack of brake pads for a great price, and decided to give it a shot. The pads looked a little longer than the ones on my bike, but I supposed that was okay. Swapping out the brake pads was really easy, but the best part was the difference they made. WOW! I can stop on a dime now! Way, way, way better. I'm also excited because I bought the 4-pack, so I have a set of pads sitting on my shelf ready to go for the next change. Very happy customer, and would definitely buy again.

Pretty decent value
These brake pads are ok. They don't squeal which was almost important to me as their actual stopping ability. The OEM brakes on my bike, specifically in the front, squealed so loudly it was becoming embarrassing so I'm glad to have resolved that issue. As for their performance, I think they're just ok. I admittedly don't have a lot of basis for comparison but my impression of these pads is that they would perform better if the rubber was a bit more supple. As it is, the rubber of the brake pad surface is hard almost to the point of having the tactile characteristics of plastic. Perhaps this makes them last longer? Or perhaps, more likely, a function of their lower quality. In any event, they work fine but if I'm being honest, my braking distance is no better and based on feel alone, probably a little worse than with the OEM brake pads. With all that said, I'm happy with this purchase as I don't need high performance equipment and these provided a decent solution at the right price point for me

Value for the money.
Needed replacements for my 3yo bike. I had never worn out the brake shoes before on any bike. These are about 3/8 inch longer than OEM, but fit well. Comes with allen wrench to install, however it is a one-time-use wrench. Quickly wore out, but got the job done. I am very happy with them, stopping is great now.

They don't last! Super Soft Brakes!
The brakes wear way too fast. I've bought brakes like these before and they typically last me one to two weeks per pair which is around 300 miles and that's great for the price but these ones only last one to two days or about 50-80 miles. Now don't get me wrong these are cheap brakes, and I ride and Ebike so i go a bit faster at 20-30 miles per hour, but there are other brakes for the same exact price that last longer.... The other issue and what i believe is the reason for them wearing out so quickly is how soft the material is. Usually when I press the brake leavers at first it's soft and then halfway through the brakes touch the rim and the leaver feels harder to press, but with these brakes they are so soft i can just squeeze the brake pads in, there is very little pressure. It's hard to explain it perfectly but all you need to know is that the brakes are soft and they don't last. This is fine for a kid's bike if he just rides it around the park or something but if you commute on your bike or use it for work or if you have an ebike.....these brakes won't cut it.

Don't even bother buying these
Bought these to replace worn pads on my bike. They arrived and appeared cheap, but I get it- these are some of the cheapest I found. The hardware fit the bike, but once installed and the cap nut was tightened, the pad was able to wiggle approx 3-4 mm back and forth which is not something that should happen with brake hardware that is supposed to stop me from speeding to my death in traffic. Since I had 4 pairs, I inspected one of the unmounted pairs to see how much the rubber pad portion would bend and wouldn't you know, the rubber broke and the metal piece inside popped out to say hello (see picture attached). Keep in mind that I did this with my bare hands and I am an out of shape dude that is way past his prime- so it is not that my grip is like a vise or anything. Regardless, didn't even need tools to completely destroy these pads. As reference, I attempted the same thing with my old pads and they did not even budge, let alone break. Needless to say the old pads are back on the bike and I wanted to share my experience as a caution to others.

Decent pads at a great price
Very easy to fit, and my daughter reports that the brakes on her Giant mountain bike are now working better than they ever have. They give much more reassuring braking, and significantly less noise than the standard pads that came with the bike. The pads are clearly marked with which side and orientation each should be fitted in. The supplied fittings appear to be of decent quality, and the convex washers allow for easy adjustment of the pad in all planes. They also come already installed on the pads in the correct order, so you just need to remove the nut, and the washers and spacers that go on the outside of the brake arm, slide the pad in from the inside, then refit the outer parts in the same order, and put the nut on. Nip the pad up so it's still free to move, push the arm against the wheel rim and position the pad squarely on the rim, then nip the nut up. I also had to to slacken the cable slightly at the cantilever end to allow for the extra thickness of the new pads, but this is not a big deal. I did not need to set any toe-in as there is no squeal in use. Fitting took about 10 minutes for both pairs, and the brakes feel strong and are very quiet. First ride today was in damp conditions, and water doesn't seem to bother them too much. I'm sure professional riders will want something more exotic, but for a bike that gets used to cycle around town, and to do a morning paper round, these are a great set of pads. Longevity is still to be established, but at this price, and given the ease of fitting (and that a complete spare set is supplied as well), it's not a big deal.
