Great kit for model and terrain builders
After spending just over a month assembling and painting the models in this kit I am happy to say it’s an excerpt gift for someone new to the hobby but also has an interest in terrain building. The paints in the set are unfortunately not enough if you want a realistic looking paint and texture on diorama but for a beginner like me it was fairly priced and has a good selection of units. Unfortunately the soldiers supplied in the box are made using a different material than the models and although it does state to clean them with detergent and warm water I still had a hard time getting paint to stick to the models. But with perseverance and a gentle hand it is possible to get realistic results with them. I would definitely recommend this as a gift to someone young starting out or even not so new like myself.

Needs attention to detail
Great kit to build. If you like something that is a fiddle to build with plenty of small parts. Then this is the kit for you

A good value kit to build.
The aircraft model is detailed and well rendered. The vehicles went together well and needed little, beyond basic tools and skills to create, a pleasing diorama. For a person new to model building the inclusion of paints and glue is a bonus but most will choose to use a wider palette and a different glue. The detailed transfers are impressive, but difficult to handle, as many are tiny and need a magnifier to see them applied correctly. The guns require part of the wing to be cut out to display them in the act of loading - perhaps not something for a first time builder! The only real negative was the type of plastic used for the figures. It is an 'oily' plastic that paint does not adhere to well and is difficult to glue with standard modelling glues (if, for example you choose to fix mechanics on to the wings and the pilot somewhere on the aircraft).

Good kit
Good kit came with all parts, good value for money for the amount of pieces you get. Paints look good, instructions easy to use and building was good fun.

Great value, dated quality.
For what you pay for, it's worth the money. If you want to take your time building and painting the diorama, you easily have upwards of ten hours' worth here. You are also given a generous amount of accessories to add to the diorama, such as oil barrels, miscellaneous crates, pick axes, shovels, bicycles...all sorts. You can therefore be quite creative with the layout. I also found that I had quite a lot of paint and glue left over at the end, which is handy. The brushes are also of a reasonable quality. The downside is how dated the models are - the parts of the house are labelled "Airfix 1975"! This explains the poor fittings of some of the components. The tanks are quite precarious to put together, and noticeable gaps in the joins are unavoidable. The soldiers are also made of a plastic that has quite a glossy finish, meaning that once the paint has dried, it simply flakes off. In summary, good value for money considering how much you get, but the quality of the models themselves is dubious.

Paints were dried out
Like others the paints were not usable since dried out. Considering the price I would have expected more. The set is okay and my son had some fun building and painting it. You have to be into this type of model building to enjoy not comparable with Lego like models.
