Nice heavy banjo tension hoop at a great price!
I was refreshing a mid 70's archtop 5-string banjo I recently purchased and the tension hoop snapped at the weld while tightening a new head because of age. This tension hoop arrived in only 3 days and is the correct size but actually heavier than my original. It fits perfectly with no real issues. My only minor complaints is there was a very tiny nick in the steel which was easily concealed under the tail piece. Looked to be in the steel and not the chrome. The other is it had a sticker on it that was a real pain to remove the adhesive. Took about 20 minutes using cleaner, water and '0000' steel wool. That said especially for the price and overall quality this is a very nice hoop. The chrome is quite good as well. Would highly recommend especially if doing a restoration. Looks just like the original , fits great and really help your wallet! Pick On!!! Cheers Jerry

Tension hoop sized right
Thereโs a problem with the listing for this itemโฆ The dimensions shown in the tension hoopโs photo gallery donโt match the partโs diameter listed in the itemโs title, or the actual part (as measured). Here are the careful measurements from the tension hoop I received: 11.437 (290.5 mm) OD - tape measure 11.062 (281.0 mm) ID - tape measure .388 (9.8 mm) high - digital caliper These dimensions were a perfect fit for the non-namebrand banjo I was restoring. The plating is rich and high quality (see pics). There are two dots inside the hoop on one side and one 180 degrees around the hoop to the other side. I assumed these indicate the neck and tail stock positions. If these dimensions match up with what you need in a tension hoop for your banjo, youโll be in good shape! Highly recommended

Check your measurements closely
It is well made but a little big for my 11 inch banjo.

Best value for a general use tension hoop.
Iโve ordered a couple of these for old banjos Iโve bought where the hoop was gnarly and rusted or was shaped weird and made it hard to replace the head using aftermarket hooks. It fits an 11โ and 11-1/8โ just fine. It may work for a 10-7/8โ too, but thatโd depend on the spacing between the fretboard and the pot. For the price, this is the way to go if you find a beater and want to fix it up. Would buy again.

it fits
If your banjo is 11" this hoop is an exact fit with a standard head. My banjo as it was had a hoop from the factory that was much too big, was 11 1/4" and had ruined the head. This hoop fit perfectly, sounds great now.

Gold Tone AC-1
Worked perfectly as a replacement for a Gold Tone AC-1. I managed to bend mine which threw off the sound and this was a 1:1 replacement.

I recommend
This item was much better quality than I expected, considering the price. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to replace a worn or broken hoop. Looks great too !

Good inexpensive hoop.
The cheapest tension hoop I've found next to this one costs $40-$50. If your whole banjo is worth $60, that's an unreasonable committment of repair funds. This hoop is basic, generic, solid, and priced appropriately. At about $12, it fits most generic 11" shells, and you can fix up that old clunker into playable condition without spending more for the hoop thatn you did for the banjo. If you own a $1500 Deering, then you probably don't want this hoop; but for saving those cheap-os from the dumpster, this is just the ticket.
