How long do the seeds keep? What is their shelf life?

I'm not sure. I planted all of my seeds and none of them terminated. I think I got a bad batch.

If i decide to sow my whole yard with these seeds how often will we have to mow it? Or will it need mowing? And will it come back yearly?

No need to mow. It only grows a couple of inches high. Yes it will come back year after year.

will it grow in sandy soil?

These seeds didn't work for me. They may work for you, but after planting these teeny, tiny seeds, none of which came up, I bought the plants in a greenhouse and put them in before a rain. Moss doesn't need specially prepared soil My soil is more clay-based, and it does take off and come back from year to year for me. But also, grass tends to grow in between. You have to keep up with it. But I do like the tiny flowers that come up on each mound.
