After using the Airfree for only a few days, we started noticing an immediate difference in the quality of the air in our rental condominium. The musty, stale odor that would never dissipate was gone. We placed the Airfree in the main living area and one in our bedroom. The main area of mold is in the basement. However, having these two filters in the home has made a huge difference. While we are seeking a new living environment, these purifiers are making the situation more bearable while staying in this rental. I highly recommend this product if you are in need of a purifier that can achieve 100% efficiency at destroying allergens, mold, viruses, bacteria, dust mites, pet dander, organic pollutants, pollens, tobacco, and ozone pollutants. I was worried that any noises from the Airfree would keep me up at night since I’m a light sleeper. However, I’ve had no issues sleeping with this quiet purifier. It has a night light feature which is a blue light that provides enough lighting to see, but is also not too bright to hinder sleeping. I like that the purifier is small and easily portable. It is a low energy consumption purifier that is clean and environmentally friendly. There are no ozone or ion emissions. I purchased this because my home contained visable mold and who knows what's hidden behind the drywall. In addition, the lower level of the home often had a funny smell (not really moldy, just funny, kind of earthy), and since I moved, the dog and cat are really itchy. I read one of the reviews for this product on another site where someone had a mold remediator come in 4 times and it didn't work, so I decided to try this first, since it's cheaper, and it is supposed to remove more than just mold. I plugged this in in the family room on the lower level. It originally gives off a mild burning smell that subsides after a few days. Soon, the lower level of my home had no more funny smells and both the cat and dog prefer to sleep in that room as opposed to all other rooms. I just ordered a second one for the mid level of my home and plan to get a smaller one for the bedroom. I'm very pleased with it. Don't know that it got rid of the mold, but it did get rid of the smell and both the dog and cat think it's doing a good thing, since they had no interest in that room prior to the Airfree. To me, that says a lot. Ok, had to edit this because I got the second airfree for the living room level and that's been running about 2 weeks now. They say it takes a month to work, but my itchy dog, who had rubbed all the hair off her eye and had large scabs on her rear by her tail (the vet was the one who originally put the air purifier idea in my head) has stopped rubbing her face, her eye's no longer red and it appears that the hair's even making an effort to regrow and all the scabs on her rear are gone! She's not on any meds for this either so that's not the cause of her improvement. This is more than I could have hoped for. She's much more comfortable and will now hang with us in the livingroom. I just ordered a small one for my bedroom. Now we'll see how it does on my morningtime stuffy nose :-) Ps. still no funny smells on the lower level!

When it works, it is very effective. My allergy symptom is noticeably better. This thing has a temperature sensor that will shut off the heating element when it thinks it is "too hot" . The problem is that the senor has a tendency to get stuck in the "too hot" position. When it does that, the heating element will stay off, which means the unit is useless. I tried opening up the unit and cannot find a reset button. Finally, out of desperation, I unplug it and put it in the freezer for an hour to make sure it 'knows' it is "too cold". Amazingly, after I took it out of the freezer, it started working. The nice thing is, to do this trick, You don't even need to use a screw driver to open it up. Nice! I put a thermostat near the top of Airfree, it is reading 92F and still raising. If your unit has a lower reading, it is probably not working. Some reviewer reported that Airfree does not work if you have a HVAC system, due to fast air circulation. I can offer a one data point that shows it _can_ work provided some conditions are satisfied. My home have a multi-zone set up, the zone I am using Airfree in is about 800 sq ft. I use two Airfree unit for this zone. I do have the AC for this zone "on" most of the time. Since the windows and the door in this zone are closed. Even with the almost constant air circulation, it is basically still a closed system. It is working fine for me. ***Note to Airfree design team and QA team. This is a great unit, but please fix that annoying temperature sensor!!!

I live in Hawai'i where mold and mildew can be a problem. I had a brand new closed off walk-in closet that, a year ago, was beginning to develop a very strong and unpleasant moldy smell and all of our clothes were picking up that smell. Yuk. So I bought this and put it in the closet ... six months later the smell was diminished and a year later the smell is gone! Yes! I bought a second for our bedroom and since plugging it and letting it do its' thing I have seen no mold or mildew anywhere. I am back today to buy a third for the living room because it is the 'wet season' here now and these keep the mold away. If you have mold and mildew problems I can recommend this filter, although you need to pay attention to the recommendations for the square footage they cover and you may need more than one. Yes, they are a little pricey but no maintenance, no additional parts or filters to buy -- ever? So worth it!

Airfree Onix 3000 Air Purifier On paper the Airfree Onix 3000 is astounding. No moving parts, heats air automatically pulled inside to 400 degrees F, where it basically destroys mold, bacteria and more. The air in your house will be clean fresh and smell wonderful. How great is that? Turns out not so much. At a price of $299 I assumed the Onix would be made of porcelain, graphite or some other heat resistant composite. I mean the inside heating element is made of steal. I was shocked to discover the onix is made out of cheap plastic. Oh, and it smelled to high heaven even before we removed it from the box. Thinking the smell would dissipate after the Onix had been on for a while, we plugged it in. Within minutes the room was filled with the odor of burning plastic. After being plugged in for the entire afternoon, the smell was so bad it made EVERYONE's eyes water. Suffice it to say we unplugged it, at which point we learned the Onix was almost too hot too touch. (So much for cooling off the air before it leaves the Onix) It took a few hours for the thing to cool down enough so we could repackage it. I worry the Onix runs so hot that it represents a fire hazard. While the Onix did reduce odor in our sitting room, the smell of burning plastic was worse than any pet smells. We have since replaced the Onix with an Austin Air Bedroom Machine. (see link) It works, removes smoke, smog, dust, VOCs and makes the air smell fresh.

Leaving this at 3 stars as I just opened it and plugged it in - upfront colors do not change on this P3000, but it appears to be plugged in. I did research about whether this would absorb the diffusers and humidifier I have and it said it would not change the smell of the diffuser. I bought it primarily to handle the dust as I am struggling with the dust. I am sad to read that some said that this did dehumidify the room. Attacking mold should not remove all moisture. Again will see how this holds up, I am parting with it over color changes, but it does make wonder if that doesn't work what else doesn't work. To be continued.

FANTASTIC! Been suffering from mold here on the beaches of the LowCountry of SC! Lots of damp, humidity, and water, water everywhere! Constantly sick, headaches, sniffles, sinus issues, respiratory issues, couldn't breathe, antibiotic after antibiotic. Got one of these for my classroom at school and a slightly larger one for my great room area at home. POOF! All my symptoms are gone!! No noise from it and just a little heat radiates off of it. I'd use common sense about not piling a lot of papers, clothing, junk, etc on top of and around it, but it's not a product that gets "HOT". Just warm. Nothing to ever replace or change out on it. Amazing product! A little expensive, but so are all those visits to the dr and the medicines she prescribes!! WELL worth the money! You won't regret!!

I had bought two of these in the past, and liked them so well, that I bought one as a gift and two more for our home. I read the research when I bought the first ones, and it was impressive. Though I can not remember all the particulars now; I believe they are used in the hospitals in another country...I think Sweden...and reduced the bacteria,molds, and virus count by around 97%. They make no noise, give off some heat at the top (due to the kiln inside incinerating the contaminants), and I believe I remember use very little energy to do this. Though I have not gone back to re-read all the literature and research. One of the first two I bought about 5 years ago is still working, one died about 2 years ago. I like the blue light that you can turn up or down in intensity on the top...or off. It helps me move around my house in the dark. Still...current research says for the BEST sleep...your room should have NO light. In fact, research has tied sleeping with lights on to breast cancer! Which melatonin is supposed to help fight against.

Fantastic product, does exactly what it says with NO maintenance needed. I used to dust every second day, it took a week for the dust to build up to the same level. Air smelled fresh the first day, too. So great we ordered two more to cover areas other than our bedroom. It is silent and you can turn the light off fully, too, which we appreciate.

It had been on my wishlist for a long time and I’m delighted with the Airfree Onix 3000! I could feel it working within the first half hour. It also has a slight drying effect on the humidity which, for me, is an added bonus.

This product is easy to use and enjoy the fact that I do not have to replace with any filters. I plug it in and forget it. The display colours are an extra bonus. The one thing I really love about this product is that I noticed the subtle odour in my apartment unit was gone. I come home, enter my unit and absolutely no smell of mold or whatever that smell was which I could not get rid of. I recommended this product to my friends and family. It really works. In fact, I bought another one for my bedroom.
