Ectaco ER400 Partner English - Russian Bilingual Professional Talking Electronic Dictionary / Business Organizer

Great product. First bought one for my mother as a birthday gift, then had to buy another one for my father - they said, that one is not enough for them!

The product is a considerable improvement over older models is size and weight. The dictionary is good wih almost all common words although sometimes the translations are not for common accepted usage but rather some of the more esoteric definitions.

Unable to comment other than an excellent service, as the item is a Christmas present, so I will then discover it's hidden depths.

For this day it is already the third item in a row for us. We had to replace it twice. If it wasn't the seller's policy not to give refund after one week, we would definitely prefer a refund. The first dictionary could stop working and none of the buttons responded till we would take out the batteries and then put them back in. Usually it happened every day. Than we asked to replace it, and the next unit worked ok for about 2 or 3 weeks. Then it stopped working forever with all our attempts to replace the batteries etc. Hopefully, the third one would work better, but who knows... The message was clear from the very beginning. I would never buy it one more time, even if for less.

It would be a nice dictionary if not the build quality. The most important thing is that it freezes randomly and sometimes it is hard to make it work again, because pressing the reset button and even removing batteries do not always help. First time it happened several months after we bought it. I was able to reset it by pushing random combinations of buttons. Now, after 2.5 years of use, it is dead with half of the screen black and half white. No reaction to reset, batteries removal or keyboard. Think twice!

easy to use and suits my needs nicely - it would be even better if it spoke in Russian as well as english

After being really impressed with another Ectaco product that I had gotten as a present (see my review of the XL-1500) I convinced my company to buy this for our team because we are doing a lot of business in Russia these days. I had to demonstrate it for the bosses and everyone was really impressed with how straightforward it was to use and how fast and responsive too. It seems really accurate for the type of business we conduct. . It would be nice if the screen was in color but I am now trying to convince the company to upgrade it. I am also using the device to train the new sales reps and translate contracts. It's working like a dream and I am confident that it will help our business enormously.

The device is nice and useful, but the voice and pronunciation is not clear enough
