Fluval Edge 6-Gallon Aquarium with 21-LED Light, White

First, this tank is amazing. It's beautiful and and easy to clean and maintain if you use a simple regiment. Though it looks like a lot of work, once it's set up all you're really doing is feeding the fish 3 times a week and cleaning the tank for 10 minutes once a week. I bought this tank for my son over a year ago. We've had a couple different tanks (Eclipse all-in-one, standard glass aquarium) with mixed results. This tank however, is absolutely amazing. We love the look and it keeps our fish healthy with the correct regiment. SET UP 1. First you have to establish the nitrogen in your tank. I've found this is the hardest part. Basically, your ammonia spikes up, then your nitrite, then your nitrate and once all those chemicals are working together they drop to almost zero. It's best to do this without fish, so if you already own fish, keep them in your current tank, while you set up your new tank. If you absolutely have to establish your nitrogen with your fish, expect some will probably die unless they are extremely hearty. For more information on the nitrogen cycle, just search for "nitrogen cycle aquarium" online and you'll find lots of information, there are lots of images and websites on it. I've included and image that I found useful. 2. We use this test kit to makes sure the freshwater pH, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate are healthy. Here - http://amzn.com/B000255NCI - The levels you want are: - PH around 7. Our fish like 7.4-7.6 - Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite extremely low. Your goal is 0, below 5 is acceptable on all of these. 2. Keep the tank heated. About 76 degrees. We use this one - http://amzn.com/B00Y2ODQ4M 3. Use an air bubbler. Anything will do, there are fun ones for the kids like treasure chests, etc. We use this - http://amzn.com/B00ZZ3R596 4. Inhabit your tank with live plants! This is huge to help purify the water and aid in the nitrogen cycle. 5. Use 1/2" to 1" of gravel in the bottom of the tank. This helps seat your plants. We use this - http://amzn.com/B001OTSPDA 6- For looks, we use 2 pieces of aquarium wood (water is reddish for first few weeks while tannins weeps out, this is completely safe for fish) and a volcanic rock (pumice). The fish love to swim around and hide in there too. FEEDING AND POPULATION Okay, now your new tank is set up. You can add your fish and start feeding them. 1. No more than 1 inch of fish per gallon. We have a 12 gallon Edge, with 6 2" fish (2 are bottom feeders). You add more and the tank can't handle it. 2. Feed them very little. The more food in the tank, the more likely the ammonia will kill them. We feed them MON,WED,FRI only. About 10-12 of very tiny fish pellets. It's barely a pinch. We use New Life Spectrum Small Fish Formula. Here - http://amzn.com/B00176CSYW 3- We stopped using the bottom feeder pellets. They created too much waste and ammonia in the tank. Our catfish gobble up the leftovers from the regular food, which is plenty. WEEKLY MAINTENCE Sunday is the only day that we that takes time to care for the tank. It usually only takes 10-15 minutes mex. Here's what we do EVERY SUNDAY. 1- Clean the tank first. Any gunk this might produce will be removed in the next step. We remove the slime from the walls with the wall cleaner that comes with the tank and one of these - http://amzn.com/B00KZJYJVW 2- Remove 25% of your tank water using a siphon. This is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. You have to clean all the junk out of your gravel or the water becomes very toxic very quickly. You just push the siphon into the rocks and you'll be amazed what get sucked out. We use this - http://amzn.com/B001V6Y3LY 3- Use the same bucket every week for removing the water and treating the new water that is only for fish. If you use the bucket you use to wash your car, those detergents will kill your fish. So we have a "fish only" bucket. 4- Once the water has been removed from the tank, clean your filter sponge and biomax in the bucket of old water. This keeps the good bacteria in the filter. Don't clean it in the sink with untreated water, that's bad. We use one sponge and two biomax bags, carbon is pretty useless as it only lasts for a week or two. We've tried EVERYTHING and this is the magic combo we've found. --- 5 ml of each of these (about 1/2 capful) --- A) NovAqua Plus, this coats the fish with a healthy slime. Here - http://amzn.com/B002DZNP3E C) Sachem Prime, this removes all the harsh chemicals from your tap water. Here - http://amzn.com/B00025694O 6- Put the water back in and and test the Ph. If t's either high or low, you can buy chemicals that alter it, but we've found t's a very slippery slope. We tend to just let the tank take care of itself and only nudge the PH when absolutely necessary. We use Seachem for PH buffers is absolutely necessary. 7- Now watch your beautiful happy fish chillin' on a Sunday afternoon. This ritual has been great bonding for my son and I and though it looks like a lot of work, once you have everything setup and going, all you're really doing is feeding the fish 3 times a week and cleaning the tank for 10 minutes on Sunday. Amazon sent 3 of them to me and each one arrived damaged. Ouch... Factory box is poorly designed and simply can't offer enough protection. I had to purchase the tank at my local store. Of course Amazon issued me a credit no question asked. So good luck getting yours without a damage. Hope you will. When you receive your tank, don't get too excited and spontaneously unpack it. Inspect it first! You can easily look inside and check the glass without removing it from the box. Now, if you unpack it first and find any damage later, good luck putting it all back together. Took me long time and it was very irritating. The tank itself is great. I already own original 6 gallon Fluval Edge and had been hoping for a larger model for a long time. New tank offers double the capacity (12 gallons) and new improved light. Instead of two halogen bulbs that would last just few weeks, now you get a nice setup of white LEDs with a night mode. Night mode is actually great. Three, dark blue LEDs offer pleasant, ambient light that is non aggressive. You can leave it on for the night. Assembling is super easy and takes no time. You should be done in just few minutes. I just don't understand how some people find it confusing and challenging. Light switch is from hell. Hard to access (you must remove the top cover). Once you get there, switching it ON/OFF/NightMode is a pure exercise in patience. Don't give up, it will eventually work. Oh, there is one trap...the light assembly is attached to the power supply via somehow hidden connector inside the rear post where the filter and power cables are located. Double check the connection. Because of the design of the tank - plan ahead of time where you want your plants and decorations. Once the tank is full, you will need to remove some water to put your arm in and make changes. The tank looks great! It is elegant and classy. I love the clean, simple lines. I used it to replace my 16 gallons conventional tank with an ugly traditional hood. My only regret - I waited for too long to switch. The price is great. You get the glass, light, hood, filter with the media and even water treatment chemicals. All put together it is a nice deal. So if you decide getting one - Enjoy!

Das ist jetzt mein 3. Fluval Edge! Nachdem meine Garnelen sich vermehren und vermehren (was mit auch am Edge liegt) musste noch ein Becken her. Beim Warehouse Deal für eine nTop-Preis bestellt, war noch vor Weihnachten da, alles TOP!! Es ist einfach das schönste vom Design, der Aussenfilter ist spitze und LEISE, allerdings noch leiser lässt man den Filterdeckel einfach weg! Auch die LED-Beleuchtung ist AUSREICHEND, alle Pflanzen wachsen hervorragend in meinen beiden ersten Nanos. Wie so oft geschrieben,muss man keine andere oder zusätzliche Beleuchtung anbringen, da Garnelen es nicht so grell hell mögen! Und das Einrichten durch die kleine Öffnung oben ist kein Problem, mit etwas Übung kommt schnell alles auf seinen Platz. Hatte als erstes Becken so ein hohes von Dennerle, das war eine Katastrophe. Oben nur ein Deckel drauf, an den Seiten wo der Spalt offen ist, kraxeln alle Tiere raus. Das Licht, an einen Balken geschraubt, nach kurzer Zeit abgebrochen - der Mini-Innenfilter, alle 2-3 Tage dicht! Und die Grundfläche winzig klein, da kann man nur ein paar Pflanzen setzen. Garnelen brauche eine große Fläche (wie beim Edge) sie drehen ja ständig jedes Sandkörnlein um :) Allso Leute, kauft euch ein Edge, es ist das beste und stylischste, was zur Zeit am Markt ist!!

Veramente molto bello di design fa la sua figura messo ovunque non è molto grande quindi lo si può poggiare davvero su qualsiasi mobile. Luci fantastiche sia diurne che notturne. È il Mio primo acquario ma non potevo chiedere di meglio in più avendo due bambini piccoli il vetro sopra mi aiuta a non fargli mettere le manine dentro per curiosare e in più il piano rimane sempre asciutto anche dai saltino dei pesci. Ottima la visuale da qualsiasi angolazione! Prodotto arrivato nei tempi e molto ben imballato! Consiglio soprattutto per chi come me voleva un acquario ma anche un po’ di arredamento!

Ottimo acquario, molto bello. Le dimensioni non grandi mi hanno consentito di posizionarlo vicino al divano. Super l'assistenza del venditore, mancava una parte del filtro, prontamente rispedito senza farmi troppe domande.
