Good Player
I bought this because it is the same model as an organization I help out by putting together videos for them. There were issues with the videos I made, so I bought to test the DVDs before I delivered them. The player works perfectly, no flaws or gotchas. It remembers where it was playing a disk when that disk is reinserted, but I don't know how many disks it can remember (it probably stores the "ID" of the disk and the location where it was playing, and has a fixed size block of memory set aside for this). So far, I would give this player 5 stars. One nice thing about this player, and also the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, and I am willing to up it to 5 stars, is the USB port. Apparently, you can put videos, etc. on a thumb-drive/ memory-stick/ USB-drive (whatever name you use), plug your device into the USB port, and play those videos. I was hoping to deliver my videos on a thumb-drive instead of burning to a DVD-RW every week - the DVD is about 4 gig v. a 32 or 64 gig thumb-drive - I would be able to deliver a month's worth of videos each month instead of weekly videos. BUT! I cannot figure out what video format the player accepts from a USB device. I thought it would accept the device in the same format as a DVD - it did not. I tried several formats, none of those worked. I looked for documentation, could not find any (yet). Summary - if you want a player to play DVDs reliably - I can recommend this one - it has been in use in the organization for a long time and has worked without any problems, so I can assume the same for the one I bought, which will be put into use in my living room. If you were buying it for the USB port, good luck - let me know if you figure out the formats, I'm hoping its something that I just overlooked.

Philips DVP3680 DVD Player - Black
What I Like: - Plays DVD+RW disc without skipping - Simple menu - The High Speed USB: Reads wma files and burn CD's to mp3's, I can use my IOGEAR 12-In-One Pocket Flash Memory Card Reader/Writer, GFR209A (White) . I put a memory card in the IOGEAR and plug the IOGEAR into the USB on the DVD player. - Can fast forward or rewind 2x to 32x fast, also has slow motion (don't remember how slow) What I Don't Like: - When I put the HDMI setup to upscale to 1080p it messes up and my TV ( Samsung UN22D5003 22-Inch 1080p 60Hz LED HDTV (Black) [2011 MODEL ]) said the mode was not supported. Then I had to unplug the HDMI cable, plug in the RCA cables to view the menu, and it only upscales to 1080i not 1080p. - The manual said it reads avi video files but it doesn't play my videos. I hear the sound with no picture only the message "Video codec not supported". - Also you can't select songs to make a playlist. It just plays all the song in that folder. - When I first got it the disc tray wouldn't come out and when it did open it wouldn't go back in. It finally did and it working without any problems now Overall: Does just about everything it said it would and I want it to do. I bought this from Amazon during the Black Friday deals for 39.99. I am very happy with it.

Can play all DVD regions for a great price!
Purchased this because I am in Germany and want to play some DVDs from here that will not play on my PS3. I Googled how to set the player to region 0 (meaning play DVD from all regions) and was able to make this change very easily. CHANGES TO CONVERT THIS DVD PLAYER TO REGION 0: 1 Push the "setup" button on the remote. 2 With right arrow move cursor to highlight "Preferences" (Do not press "OK" button) 3 Key in code 138931 Region code comes up. Change region code to 0 (zero). (if this does not work, do it again but enter the number sequence quicker) 4 Push 'setup" button again. Your DVD player is now region free. *NOTE: If for any reason a DVD disk does not work, I would change the player's region to the disk's specific region, although I never had an issue. PROS: -I DO NOT have to set the region to "0" every time I power it on, unlike other I have owned. -Must cheaper than DVD players listed on amazon as "region free", if you are willing to take a minute to google the instructions and make quick changes. -Support dual voltage, 110v and 220v CONS: -The only con that knocks off one star is it's noise. This DVD player can be a bit noisy at times compared to others. The sound can be noticed if sitting close to it and the TV volume is a bit low. Overall, I'm happy with this purchase. Suits my needs at a bargain price.

VERY HAPPY WITH THIS DVD PLAYER (SO FAR)
I purchased this, received it within 48 hours, used it four times for my morning exercise video, and then I had some problems. I referred to the User's Manual, which suggested I Reset it to Factory Default/original settings. I did this, and then I couldn't get it to respond to any of the remote's commands. I called for customer assistance and after spending a half hour trying to communicate with the person at the other end of the line, we both agreed that he couldn't help me. I contacted amazon.com, and they sent me a Return Shipping Label immediately. Yesterday I received a Samsung DVD player, which I order to replaced the Philips. Tried it out this morning, and it's seems perfect. It cost almost twice as much as the Philips, but I guess you get what you pay for (with a few exceptions.)
