Scope works as expected
This scope works as expected, so I'd recommend it. However, in my experience I think the microscopy experience is enhanced with a scope camera. Don't skimp on a cheap camera for the scope though.

making the microscope virtually useless. After trying to return the item
I bought this microscope in August and left it in the box until today, when I needed it for an experiment. Upon opening the box, I discovered that they sent me parts that did not fit together properly (nor did they send me the correct assembly booklet), making the microscope virtually useless. After trying to return the item, I was informed that the item was no longer eligible for return. I now have an extremely expensive paperweight.

Decent scope, but Zeiss it ain't
Fair product for the price. Very convenient to have around the house. People told me it was like Zeiss, but cheaper. That's not true. Alignment on some things is a little off. The base isn't quite designed for the scope, so the object isn't in the middle. It doesn't go quite low or high enough for some uses. The tube on top is a little hard to attached dSLRs to -- AmScope adapters are poorly reviewed. Focusing makes a grinding noise. Etc. The edges of the field are also not all too sharp, for photos. You get what you pay for. But none of those really detract from the core use. It's easy to do fine work under, and it's interesting to see the world around us. Do price out combo vs. parts separately. I overpaid. Basic scope+parts was cheaper than buying as a kit. If I were buying again, I'd pass on the higher magnification Barlow lens. The images just aren't that sharp. It'd also be nicer with an aperture. Depth of field is a little limiting. The bottom lighting is essential. Many plants, fabrics, and similar are much nicer lit from the bottom. A few lamps around are also nice. Where the light comes from makes a big difference on what you can and cannot see.

and made the ringlight useless. I ordered a new
This scope would have earned 5 stars if the included LED ringlight had glowed steadily instead of flashing on and off. This started after about 15 minutes of use, and made the ringlight useless. I ordered a new, separate ringlight rather than go to the trouble of returning the entire unit, and now I'm very happy with the system (it really does deserve 5 stars). The optics are very clear and sharp, with good flatness of field. The included extra eyepieces and supplementary objective lens give the unit a very high maximum magnification. Construction quality is excellent, with very smooth movement when focusing. I added an AmScope MU1003 camera to the trinocular port, and an AmScope GT100 X-Y stage for precisely moving the specimen. This is a basic stereoscope, nothing fancy, but it is solid optically and mechanically, and should serve very well for routine laboratory use.

La he visto gigantesca.
