Perfect for creating your Dolby Atmos system
Yeah, you just can't beat these guys for the price and the sound. I use them as Atmos speakers in my home theater room. They sound great and almost disappear into a white ceiling. Super easy installation. The directional tweeters offer a nice level of sound adjustment you just won't get with a fixed tweeter. My room is on the smaller side, so I only needed a pair of them. Well worth the money. They would also work well as stand alone ceiling audio speakers.

Compared to Speakercraft and Monoprice
I recently installed three different ceiling speakers at three very different price points in three different rooms connected to my "b" output on my Denon amp. I use all of these at moderate volume levels to listen to TV or music. Monoprice 8" Kevlars in my carpeted master bedroom - $59/pair! Polk RC80i in my tiled bathroom - $129/pair Speakercraft AIM 7 three in my small tiled kitchen - $299/pair! (by far the lowest price I saw on these) I installed all of these in my attic. I placed plywood across the studs directly above the Monoprice and Polks but did not enclose along the sides (so there is not a complete box enclosing the speakers - although there is insulation enclosing those open sides). I did this to ensure that the sound wasn't getting lost in the attic. The speakercrafts are already enclosed. I purchased a cheap speaker switch through which I can turn on or off the speakers in each room. I also tried to install in wall volume controls in each room. I purchased 4 Pyle impedance switches which was nightmarish. Very frustrating. Almost impossible to connect any wire thicker than 20 gauge to the tiny connectors. These switches were very poorly built. Even if the volume controls were good it still added a lot of work getting the speaker cable down the wall and then back up into the attic. I bailed on that part of the project. Monoprice is a website that sells av wiring, cables, connections, HD wall mounts, etc at SUPER LOW prices. I've bought a bunch of stuff and have never been disappointed. The speakers are great for the price, but if budget is not an issue I wouldn't recommend these speakers. Just a bit muffled and not quite as responsive as the other speakers. No sign of distortion at high volumes. Polks sound alive. Maybe lacking a bit of bass to be used as primary speakers, but that is expected. I'm very happy with the sound of these for music in a secondary room. It's great having music in the bathroom! Speakercraft sound good. At the levels and for my purposes, though, they are pretty much equal to the Polks. They do have an enclosure behind them so the bass response is better than the Polks but not a huge difference. I guess if you need speakers to crank up as primary's these would be the best, but for the much higher price than the polks, I would not spend the money on these. If I had to do it again and I would get the Polks for each room. For the price these were overall the best value.

Created a wireless System With These.
I bought 4 of these speakers (two pair) 2 years ago (129.99/pair) with the following: 1 Sonos Connect (used: 99.00) 1 pair RC85i 2 way premium 8โ speaker (199.99) One 8 Channel 4000 watt Pyle Amplifier (239.99) Connected the Sonos to the Amp aux 1 input and connected power to all speakers via channels 1 - 6. This configuration powered my first floor open concept area (zone 2) I also have a Sonos Beam connected to the TV (zone 1) Now when using the TV, I have the Beam plus 2 RC85i speakers plus 4 RC80i speakers. Total surround sound (zone 1 and 2). I can play Apple Music, YouTube, TV anything over WiFi thru Sonos, itโs great. The quality is good and power to each speaker is more than enough, I only need about 50% power from amp. 2 years ago, I bought these speakers at 1/2 the price, now that I am finishing my basement, I will do a similar configuration but with Pyle speakers. About 1/3 the current price (May 20, 2022) I would of recommended these speakers to anyone 2 years ago, but the price increase just negates that in my opinion. The installation is pretty easy, had wires pre-installed. Simply cut some Sheetrock and screw tight. The look is great, flush to the ceiling and any of the speakers have not come loose in over 2 years. Draw a floor plan to know how many speakers you need and the type of speaker. Should the price drop, please pick them up, otherwise there are other brands which are just as good for a more affordable price

Good speakers for the price with some minor drawbacks.
These speakers were installed in my bedroom ceiling for watching TV/movies and listening to music. I've always been a fan of Polk, and have purchased these speakers before, so I knew I would like them and bought them again. Previously, I installed these speakers in my basement with rolled craft faced insulation in the ceiling, so I had no issues with installation. My only complaint then, which I still have, are the spring loaded wire clips, I would rather see binding posts. My current bedroom has attic space above it with blown insulation, which leads to my second complaint with the speakers, they have an open air bracket/housing, which means I had to construct a cover for the speaker to keep the insulation off the back of the speaker cone. I simply scooped the insulation aside and stapled some window screen material between the ceiling joists which so far seems to have worked. It was a nuisance, but I only had to do it once. The speakers themselves were fairly easy to install. First, the grill must be removed, and I did this by holding the trim of the speakers on each side and gently twisting the two sides. This will cause the grille to pop off slightly, making it easy to simply pull it off. Then use the included template to cut a hole in the appropriate spot, loosen the mountain screws and turn the brackets inward, connect the speaker, insert the speakers, then tighten the screws. Lastly insert the speaker grill. The sound itself is fair to excellent, depending on what you are listening to. These speakers have little to no bass, I also have a polk subwoofer in my room to round out the lows. Some music seems muddy, but overall I'm pleased with these speakers. They are great for TV or movies in stereo. The tweeters are aimable, allowing you to direct the sound where you would like. Pros: -Easy to install -Good quality -Aimable tweeters Cons: -Open housing allows insulation in -Spring loaded clips for wires -No bass and sometimes muddy sound

Excellent value
As with most Polk products, these speakers are tough to beat for the price. I bought two pair for my 5.1 home theater setup. One pair for the front left and right, and the other for the back left and right. Note that using ceiling speakers for the front surrounds is not ideal. Unfortunately, my home was pre-wired this way with the cables in the ceiling. Bringing them down to the ceiling, cutting dry wall, etc. would have been a big hassle. My setup: Receiver - Onkyo TX-SR705 Center speaker - Polk CS2 Sub - Outlaw Audio LFM-2 DVD/CD - Oppo Digital DV-981HD Your results may vary with different equipment. Surprisingly, the sound imaging is pretty good even though the front surrounds are in the ceiling. The directional tweeters do help a bit with this. Bass is ok, but you'll want to pair these with a sub for home theater viewing. They also sound great with music. Overall sound is detailed but warm and never harsh with the highs. I cranked the volume beyond ridiculous levels and the sound remained true. Installation was fairly simple. Use included template to draw circle. Cut hole. Remove grill. Connect speaker to wire, push into hole, then screw down clamps. Reinstall grill. I did not have problems with taking the grills off or putting them back on like some other reviewers. Maybe Polk fixed the problem? When drawing the circle off the template, you may want to cut a hair outside of the circle. Even then the speaker will fit in snugly. Which is a good thing because that makes it much easier to turn the screws that are attached to the clamps (the clamps that secure it to the ceiling). Otherwise you'll have to hold the speaker and screw at the same time (uh..that's what she said). Overall, great product for the price.

Perfect for zone 2 music with no subwoofer
I was planning a new house and there was no way I was going to put anything in other than in-walls and in-ceiling speakers in. As much as I love good sound I dont think it needs to be overly loud, and having been a very happy satellite speaker user for 4 years (Boston Acoustics Soundware), I didnt think i would be disappointed about in-walls the way some floor standing speaker owners write about. There are not many in-walls available in this country so it was entirely internet searching that led me to the Polk RC series. Reviews told me they are excellent value for money and after a few weeks of testing these in my second zone for music (no sub), I could not see any need to go trying out any other brands for other zones to compare. They had better than expected bass response for a second zone which does not have a subwoofer (these were the main use case for my RC80i's) and excellent clarity for seemingly all kinds of music. I now have 6 pairs of these in my house for other music zones. They blend in to the white ceilings very well, so got the the big tick from the wife. There was no way I was going to attempt to paint them another shade of white. I also have them as rears in a 5.1 home theatre setup. As rears they deliver brilliant explosions, crashes and what-not that rear speakers are supposed to. I was tempted to move down to RC60i's for this but glad I spent to tiny bit extra as I'm sure these rears are also responsible for bass in these sound effects (I've now turned down the subwoofer to test this theory). Other speakers in the 5.1 setup are RC85i, 255RT and BIC America Venturi 1020, plus a 100w/channel receiver. I am very happy with the combination of speakers for home theatre and so are the long list of people that come round to watch movies and consume my home brew

They work fine ! Great price , good value !
This is an under rated speaker , it has good sound and tone , not tinny and descent bass and mid range , it all depends on the area that it is mounted into , insulation and other surrounding materials with impact on the sound quality! Also the grill covers can be adjusted without glue or silicone if you carefully bend out the area slightly that slots into the speaker itself, bend it ever so slightly in four or five spots ( outward) and slowly work the grill into the slot that holds the grill working it into place , this process snug fits the grill with falling out , simple and it works !
