Good buy, great price for 900 cfm.
As a design professional, I spent a long time looking for the right hood that wouldn’t break the bank. My considerations were; stainless steel for 9’ ceilings, 36” wide, (my range is 30” so I wanted 3” overhang on both sides to catch the smoke), 900 cfm, (generally I operate it on the lower settings since 900 cfm setting is overkill for a typical residential use), not too loud, ( this one is around 55 decibels at the max speed), oil catcher, steel baffles instead of a mesh so that it could be popped into the dishwasher for easy cleanup and it had to be reasonably priced! There were many which met all the requirements, minus the price. I was a little puzzled with the negative reviews but after much research, I bought the Z Line KF2-36 36" 900 CFM hood. Having had it for a few months, I am happy with the purchase and would recommend it to anyone with similar requirements.

Absolutely beautiful!
We mounted this as a test run before getting started on the backsplash, hence the first photo (I’ll edit once it’s in place for good - we had to raise it higher than it is in this photo) but so far we are extremely happy with it!!The one “suggestion” I have for ZLINE is to please consider putting the same protective film that you put on the vent chimney onto the hood itself. Yes, it comes with a lovely cloth cover, but once it’s out of the box & being moved it scratches very easily, regardless of the cover being on. Turns out, in our case, the electrical plug was sliding around inside of the cloth & we didn’t notice that, so the prongs scratched the stainless steel. Hoping we can buff it out once it’s permanently mounted, but just a heads up for anyone else to watch out for that.EDIT: The hood has been in place for a couple of weeks now (we’re not done painting cabinets yet, so excuse the mess) and it works great! We did have to cut down the chimney piece since our ceilings are low, but my husband was able to do the fairly easily. It took us a bit to figure out the automatic power-off feature (not a lot of info in the manual). Basically when the fan is running, you push the power button once and it starts a 3-minute countdown before it turns off. Push it twice to turn off without the delay. Handy for some dishes! The fan itself is a little on the loud side when on high (what exhaust fan isn’t?) but it brings up all of the steam, which is great. The light could be a little brighter, but the ability to pivot it to where you need it makes up for that.Now...for the “concerns”. It is beautiful but it is SO EASY TO SCRATCH!! I literally surface-scratched it by wiping it with a microfiber cloth. Really???Also, once we installed it we realized one of the pull-screws (whatever they’re called) is missing from one of the filter baffles so we’re unable to open that one without putting a nail or something in the hole and pushing to release the lock (we haven’t done that as we haven’t needed to yet, but that’s said to describe the issue)With the exception of those 2 things, this is an excellent fan for the money.

Max of 400 cfm. Less than 2 years old and the motor just died.
Maximum cfm of 400 at highest setting. Purchased in November of 2020 installed in March of 2021 broken in December of 2022. The blower motor just stopped working. Very disappointing.

Hood clearance
I found that 32'" distance from the range works best in my kitchen, great product for the price.

On-time delivery good product
Nice looking everything works during shipping there was a vent cover that came loose and dented the hood small dent I will live with it I did talk to them they said they would replace if it was not installed yet too late for that I did have to get a new chimney chase but the young lady at the Z line was very helpful so customer service I givefive stars! But in the end it cost more than what I had expected ( my fault on design change)so know exactly what you need before you buy. The fan is noisy but from what I understand they pretty much all are. don’t plan on conversing right next to the hood while you’re cooking.
